InactiveMy son refuses to sleep on his back. I dont blame him though, and it scares me a little cause he spits up during the night a lot. Doctor said to let him sleep where there is an incline as long as it’s safe. He will fall asleep in anything that enables him to sit up a little, but that is not always the safest place. I was researching the Amby baby bed and wanted to know if anyone has tried it. It’s pricey, but worth it if I could sleep more than 2 hours a day! Thanks!

InactiveThanks for your quick response. I checked out that website. The wedges say they are only for tummy sleepers. Are their any for back sleepers. I looked briefly at the tucker wedge.

Inactivei didnt realize that wedge was for tummy sleeping. im pretty sure you can also use it for back sleeping.
and i think you can do the same with the tucker wedge, i think its for either way.October 1, 2006 at 1:38 pm #14676hellbennt
Keymasterplease ignore the pronouns- I copied & pasted
:You might want to try tummy sleeping? [at least start for daytime naps where you can keep an eye out- read below
]This is from the American Academy of Pediatrics & how they recommend that tummy sleeping is best for GERD babies. http://www.aap.org/new/sids/question.htm (thanks Sherry & Christine!)
There’s a monitor that you can use called the Angel Care Monitor that many of the parents on this board have had great success with. Jonah was sent home with a monitor from the hospital, so I don’t know firsthand about the Angel Care monitor, but here’s all about it: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/search.asp?KW=angelcare&am p;SM=2&SI=TC&FM=0&OB=2
BEANIE BABY: for day time naps I suggest this: Try putting her on her tummy & put a beanie baby on her back for 2 reasons- to see that she’s breathing (the beanie baby will go up & down )
& for the weight- put your hand on her back & then slowly leave it & the beanie baby is there instead…
For sleeping, there’s also the Tucker Sling that people rave about: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/search.asp?KW=tucker&S M=1&SI=TC&FM=0&OB=2
as well as the Amby Hammock: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/search.asp?KW=amby&SM= 1&SI=TC&FM=0&OB=2

InactiveMy little one is in amby bed. I can’t say he is sleeping any better, but at least I don’t have to get out of bed so much. When he wakes up before time to eat I can just bounce the amby and he will go back to sleep. Like I said he doesn’t sleep much, but nothing else I tryed either. This just enables me to be able to get a little more sleep. You could check e-bay. That is where we got our amby.
Good Luck! Is your baby not sleeping because of reflux or something else? I would really like to know.

InactiveI used something called an AR pillow, like a wedge and a sling, kind of. It’s only for back sleepers, and only goes up to a year, Aidan used it for 4 months, and LOVED it. After 4 months I was able to put him on his back. You can read more about it at http://www.ARPILLOW.com.

Inactivedo you know what the weight limit is on the ar pillow?

InactiveHello everyone. I checked the ar pillow and it says it goes from preemie to 28 lbs. With the tucker wedge sling combo you can keep the same wedge but have to buy a new sling when your baby grows out of the first one. I am now in debate between the ar pillow, amby, and tucker. Obviously the amby being the priciest. My son was diagnosed with reflux based on symptoms that I told teh doctor about and today he had an upper GI and ultrasound. Pyloric Stenosis is in our family, so it was important to look for that as well. From what the radiologist saw, he said it looked just like reflux. We will get full report from the doc tomorrow and hopefully get this baby on something batter than zantac! He will basically sleep in anything with an incline. He sleeps like an angel too. But, in teh crib flat on his back he wakes up within 20 minutes and the times I have tried I hear him gag or choke and that scared me to death. Last night he slept for 7 1/2 hours in his car seat! Aidansmom79-Did you discontinue the ar pillow when he could roll over or was it just that you were ready? How did you transition? Was it easy to use and care for?

Inactiveoh, I took him out of it once he started to become a little more mobile (I think he was actually 5 months), He just seemed like he wanted to be able to move around a bit more when he slept! He still fits in it, (I tried to use it last week when he had a cold) But moves around so much now that he doesn’t like it. Also, when he has 5 months old his reflux was under control much better and he was able to sleep on his back! Every piece on it is attached with velcro, and comes off to wash, the straps, the cover (it comes with a green gingham cover) and the headrest, and can all be washed. The headrest can be moved up as the baby grows. We really loved it, and even though we didn’t use it for a very long time, it was worth every penny for the time we did!

InactiveWe used an amby (that I’m going to put on ebay if anyone is interested) for Hailey. She used it for about 5 months or so. I liked it b/c I didn’t have to get out of bed to bounce her around, and just bounced the hammock in my groggy state. It helped us both to get some more sleep. But, be warned that it doesn’t really angle like the site suggests. You can incline it, but not as much as I would have liked, and sometimes she would slide down. Right now we use a comfy lift bed since she’s older now. It’s a tough decision, good luck.
