The other week I ran out of my DD’s Zantac before her next script could be filled. I had an old bottle of flavored Zantac in our medicine cabinet *(old meaning about 2-3 months old) that we never used because we wanted the unflavored kind and the pharmacy made an error. So I gave her doses from that bottle for a day. She spit up SO MUCH it was UNREAL! She seemed in pain too, and usually with the Zantac she is not in pain. Her spit up was clear too and very sour smelling. I didn’t think her Zantac was helping her spit up at all…but I guess I had just forgotten how bad it used to be! As soon as I got her new bottle we threw the old one away and now she is back to normal (normal meaning her normal amount of spit up, which is still quite a bit, but NOTHING like that day).
SO my question is, was it expired? Does it only last a short time in the bottle? Or could it have been the flavoring that she reacted that way too? Any ideas??? Needless to say we’ll never do it again.
