InactiveThis is really interesting about allergies….I know many of us struggle between sensitivity, intolerance and allergy so I thought I’d post it…
basically says we NEED dirt, pets, etc. and there are new ways to reprogram immune system…

This one is interesting too…says expose baby to grains early at specific programming interval so to avoid allergies later…

InactiveThat’s really interesting. It’s so hard to know which studies to believe. There was just a study published recently saying that you should wait to introduce grains. Uggh!

InactiveHmmm…..that is very interesting. All my babies were on cereal before 4 months which of course concerned me, but maybe it’s actually a good thing.

I’ve read other articles about early exposure to pets and other allergens actually preventing allergies. I hope they find that it’s true because it would be so much easier to not have to avoid these things with our children.
Thank God for medical reserach, but I wouldn’t stand in line for the worm studies!

Eewww! Thanks for posting these very interesting articles.

Inactiveahhh the pet theory, well that one I will never believe!!! My first son was raised with a cat and a dog and I was never and still aren’t the cleanest person in the world
, and he’s allergic to everything (including cats and dogs-but I still have the cat, she’s old now and rarely comes out of my room)!!! I do believe that it’s good to expose kids to dirt in the sense that we should stop germ proofing everything. People germ proof their houses then wonder why a simple cold sends the kid to the hospital!! Uh because their body has no resistance to anything germ wise because they have had minimal exposure, sometimes borderline none if they aren’t around other kids or don’t have older siblings!!!October 31, 2006 at 11:45 am #16915hellbennt
KeymasterI wonder about breastfeding? like if I eat peanuts, wheat, etc then I am, in way, exposing the proteins to my children…hmm…

Inactivewell, i nursed jameson and ate whatever i wanted (milk products included and peanuts too) for 10 mos. except the gassy nursing foods and the boy is allergic to air!!! of course, he can eat peanuts fine but dairy and a host of other things make him break out all over w/ eczema, get red circles under his eyes, let’s call it “poop anomolies,” reflux seems to re-visit us plus he gets nasal congestion…his ears would fill with fluid if we hadn’t had them tubed-it’s a body war! I just talked to Tracy-Eli’s mom (some of you may remember her from a few years back) and she said Eli’s temp goes up when he’s reacting!
really makes me wonder what to do with grant while i still may be in the window-i mean if i’m on the elim diet, aren’t i making things worse for later?!!!
geez, i’m so confused and the dog being in the house only adds furballs for the baby to catch between vacuumings! i tell you guys i’ll eat the darn worm if it ends the mealtime mysteries in this house!

InactiveShe’s recovering from colon cancer surgery but swears she is doing just fine. I think it was a few months ago that she started to recover her memory and daily functioning. She says Eli is still somewhat on neocate and also taking foods. He won’t eat any milk products but is other wise doing quite well. I have her email if anybody wants it to chat with her. Just contact me via private messenger.

InactiveThanks – I’m glad that she seems to be doing well and that Eli is able to eat some foods now.
