Inactivesylvia has chicken pox—and she got the stupid shot 2 years ago. she is happy as a clam, right now she is singing a version of “found a peanut” and dancing with one of the vaccum attachments—–obviously she is not feeling sick from her “chicken pops” as she calls them—–and tianna could not convince her that the chicken pox would make her turn into a chicken.
this just puts a pit of a crimp in her dental work. grrrrrrr

InactiveChristine I vote you in as #1 mom. I just don’t think you get a break and if you did it would probably be a bone and not a vacation. Sorry but its so true. I really do feel for you. Have you thought about putting collars and leashes on all your kids?

InactiveI can’t believe it! If it’s not one thing, it’s another. On the bright side, maybe you’re getting it all over in 2006, and 2007 will be a breeze!!! (Here’s hoping….) Hang in there.

InactiveWe had an outbreak at a local school last year where over 50 kids got chicken pox and they’d all had the shot. I guess the silver lining was that they all had a really mild case. I hope that Sylvia’s is mild as well.

Keymasterer…um…ug…
I had a mild case when I was 4 & then wound up with it AGAIN at age 16. It was terrible!!!
Imagine pox in places you just shouldn’t imagine
so, maybe “here’s hoping for a ‘basic’ case of chicken pox
“hang in there!!!

Inactiveyikes laura!!! i hear it can be pretty bad when you are older. sylvia slept kind of restless and sounded a little stuffy during the night and coughed a little this morning——but for the rest of the day she doesn’t even seem sick. she has very few pox and no fever. i don’t know if they will want to do her teeth or not. we will see how she is in the morning.

InactiveI think Sylvia is the exact reason why they are now making the varicella vaccine a 2 part shot now. The rule was before only 1 shot if given to a young child (I’m sorry I can’t remember the exact age) but 2 shots if given to an adult. They have found that the 1 shot has not been effective in many cases, so now the poor kiddos have to get 2. I hope she feels better soon! I don’t know how to do it Christine, there is just no time to rest in your household, I wouldn’t have an ounce of sanity left if I were in your shoes! You absolutely amaze me! You’re are such a great mom and person!

Inactiveyuck so sorry for you and your kids. I loved that song as a kid, but don’t remember how it goes. I would love to sing it to my kids though. Do you know where I can find the lines to the song?
Hope things are better soon.

InactiveI hate it that when they give the vaccine they conviently forget to inform parents that kids can and a lot of them DO get chicken pox anyway (4 of Austin’s friends had it last year and aparently so did almost the entire first grade). When I asked the ped about it, they told methat the shot lessons the chance that theywill get it and if they do it’s suposed to help it be a VERY mild case! I remember when I had them–ugh I was coated in calamine lotion forever!!!! I hope you guys are feeling better soon!
