InactiveI don’t know if Sarah has any intoleances, but she’s done great on Alimentum and I’ve left it at that. I gave her about 3 tsp. of yogurt today and was wondering if that would even be enough to tell if she has a reaction or anything? And if so, what would be the most obvious signs?

Keymasterumm…I didn’t give yogurt until about 9 months & jonah wasn’t mspi…I think it’s hard on baby’s digestive track? my friend who did give it to her non-refluxer 9 monther even had problems…

Inactivewell my sister in law has given it to my neice since she was about 7 mos. as well.. she gives it whenever she is on antibiotics (for the acidophilus).. and she LOVES it! she seems to do fine, but she also does have a stomach like a rock! i did think that it was for older babies too, but maybe some do fine at that age… i am not sure how much should show a reaction but, let me know how she handles the dairy!! that would be sooo great if she does well!!

InactiveI bought the yo-baby yogurt and I only got it because she just got over the week long diarrhea and we started her on another anti biotic for her ear infections. So I don’t plan on making it a regular meal for her…but since I bought it (as a suggestion from the pharmacist) I figured I’d give it a shot and do a mini “dairy trial”. I just didn’t know if only 3 tsp would be enough to tell anything??? I guess I’ll find out by tomorrow I assume! So far nothing has happened….

KeymasterI just used baby probiotics (still do) after a round of antibiotics…thre’s not ‘enough’ in the yogurt to combat a full course of antibiotics…

InactiveThanks Laura! I’m looking into getting probiotics, but I’m going to have to order some online b/c I don’t live near a health food store.

I knew that the yogurt in itself wasn’t going to really do anything, but I thought it would be an “easy” dairy trial? (as opposed to switching formulas)

KeymasterI’m not sure if it’d be a good indicator at such a young age, as even babies w/o mspi might react w/ ‘intolerance’ symptoms

InactiveThe way I did a dairy trial with Myles was to use Good Start formula. I started with 2 ounces per day for two full weeks. When that went well, I went up to 4 ounces per day for about a week, and as things continued to go well I continued to increase the Good Start until he was on it exclusively. I started with Good Start becasue it has the broken down proteins which supposedly are easier to digest.
Finally after about two months on Good Start I did the same thing with Whole Milk. 2 ounces per day for two full weeks, and then gradually increased it each week after that until I was sure he was fine with whole milk.
How’s Sarah doing on the Zithromax?

InactiveChristine – How old was Myles when you started the Good Start trial? Sarah is (so far) doing great on the Zithromax. She hasn’t had any diarrhea from it and seems to be feeling great! Other than constantly falling over and konking her head b/c she thinks she can pull up on any piece of furniture…she’s wonderful! Thanks for asking! HOPEFULLY she’ll be nice and healthy for Christmas this year……now if I could just get over this nagging cough…..LOL!
