Hi All!

My daughter is MSPI and acid reflux, we’re still working through everything to try to get her on the right treatment. I thought I saw that someone on the board mentioned that the Prevacid solutabs donb’t work as well if the baby is on Nutramigen. I can’t seem to find it now, but does anyone remember seeing that, or am I wrong? We’re going to the specialist on Wednesday and I’m going armed with all the info I can. Thanks so much in advance! (I also posted this in the MSPI category, hopefully that’s ok, I thought I could get the most feedback by posting in 2 categories…)

that is completely false. there is no med that is less likely to work because of a certain formula.
good luck.

I don’t think it was Nutrimigen- maybe it was a formula that had rice added to it- like AR something or other? but I doubt it like natalia posted. The solutab is supposed to be given on an empty stomach so formula wouldn;t affect anything… hellbennt2006-12-18 10:23:24

ar does NOT affect meds, this is what it does:

There is a formula that tries to address issues surrounding reflux
called Enfamil AR. It has rice starch that curdles when it hits the low
pH of the stomach making it less likely for reflux to occur. However,
if your child is on Zantac, then the stomach pH isn’t low, so the
Enfamil AR won’t work.

basically the ar is useless if you are on a med. for reflux.

Does the AR help if your chilid is on Prevacid, or is it all reflux medicines that cause it not to work?

Thanks for all the info!

all reflux meds cause it not to work-the ph isnt low in the stomach.

Hi Denise! How did the specialist visit go today? Sorry if I missed the post about it elsewhere. Just curious what you found out! I’m hopeful things get straightened out soon!
