You should never crush the solutabs or capsules- you destroy the protective coating and destroy the drug. One option is to give it dissolved in a bit of water by syringe like Christine said. Another option is to do the same but give it dissolved on a spoon. Another option is to hold it in her cheek until it dissolves and then give her some water to wash it down. Just make sure to try and give it like Christine said, on an empty stomach with a feedign 30 minutes later. Good luck.

I remember reading somewhere that it is ok to break the solutab in half…but I guess you can’t crush it. We only give our daughter 10mg..so we just break about 1/4 of a 15mg off each morning and she has done fine with that. Also, we had the most success with just resting the meds against her cheek and letting it disolve…I just could never get all the granuals in the dropper.,..but I think when we did disolve it, we used about 1tsp of water

I just started givig Abby Prevacid 15 ml. Pharmacy first gave me capsules, which I found out don’t dissolve when you open it. Then they gave me a compound liquid form of it in droppers, she would spit that up. Now I have the solutabs. I bought a pill splitter from the pharmacy and split it in half and hold it inside her cheek to let it dissolve. She’s good at that, she actually sucks my fiinger while it’s in there so she creates plenty of saliva, then put in 1ml of water with a dropper in her mouth to wash it down. There are some granules that come out the side of her mouth and some left on my finger, but my dr said that small amount that doesn’t get is not a big deal. I may try to give a little more to make up for the difference. It takes about 2 weeks for it to kick in. We are on day 3 with it, I will probaby spit that dose in half and give it twice a day. They come in 15ml tablets in the States, we can’t get them here in Canada yet so I have 30ml, spit in half.. hang in there….
