InactiveYou know, Brianna has that same problem…well she is starting to grow out of it, but if I am in the living room and I say…mommy is going to go (even if I am saying I am going to go put the dishes in teh dishwasher) as soon as she hears that word go…she starts to cry…and she has been on a good dose of meds for a long while. I think it is just that I was her comfort when she started this whole reflux thing and she doesn’t want me to leave. I have friends that would have watched Brianna, but she would have cried the whole time. Like I said, now it is not so bad…she even made it through the whole church service without bawling the whole time in the nursery.
If he is not irritable when you are around, and is truely a happy spitter, maybe he just has severe mommyitus…I know Brianna does

InactiveYeah, two of my babies had severe mommyitits.
I think the experts call it separation anxiety, but mommyitis is much cuter.
Myles was so bad I thought I’d lose my mind for a while. And he was definitely pain free. He just wanted mommy all the time. For him it got much better once he was crawling because he could come and find me, but he’s still a momma’s boy at 16 months!
How old is your little guy?

Keymasterthis sounds weird, but I made up a sign for “right back” – i used my 2 pointer fingers and made a T kind of with them and used my fingers/this motion as I told my son “mamma will be right back. RIGHT back”
I tapped with my fingers as I said the words and showed him my hands/motions/sign as I said the wordsI did this when I TRULY would be right back- like to use the toilet or to go in the other room to grab something- whatever it was- and he really really ‘got’ it and slowly it helped him kind of understand that yes, I would return…this doesnt help you right now for needing to leave for a few hours, but maybe if you start this around the house (I did this all day long) it might start to help him’get’ the idea of you leaving & coming back?
just a thought…

InactiveThat’s a great idea Laura.
We had the same problem with Hailey. Part of the issue for her was that her pain wasn’t well controlled so she didn’t want me to ever put her down or leave her. She didn’t trust others either. When her pain was controlled I started to leave her for little bits of time and always would come back. She is much much better with this now.
