KeymasterI do happen to think it can take up to 2 weeks.
Have there been changes in his stools? are they mustardy w/ seeds? or green and watery or green and mucousy. sorry to be so gross! I think from all I’ve learned, stools can be a big indicator along with behavior/reflux.
I’d give it the full 2 weeks…
it also might not be your diet…it wasn’t in my case. but I’m so glad i did the diet! I found that there were some foods that affected my baby…
was it free range/hormone free chicken/ I don’t know, I just stuck to the diet for 2 weeks…then I added things back in- I’m a big pasta fan so that’s how I realized tomato sauce (& tomato products in general) caused reflux episodes in Jonah…
I wrote about my experiences from groupie intro & from the links in the ‘main’ mspi page & others have too

hang in there!

InactiveI remember reading on that website about that diet too. I remember there being something about how a baby could get better in a few days, and then go through a period where they are actually worse. Dr. Sears encouraged mothers to stick with it through the entire two weeks. That is how long it take some protiens (milk and soy especially) to get out of your system. Good luck!

Inactivewhat form of prevacid and how are you adminstering it?

InactiveThe Prevacid is delayed release suspension, and I’m diluting it with 2 T water like the instructions indicate then using a medicine dispenser. He gets almost all the white balls (only 2-3 left usually). He has been WORSE since increasing the dosage! Is that possible?

Keymasterthere’s prevacid 101 (linked to from groupie intro that’s in introduce yourself forum) and also found from stickied ‘treating gerd w/ ppis’ in medicine forum- scroll down to purple post ‘prevacid 101’
this tells you all the forms and advantages/disadvantages (ie problems found) with all the forms of PPIs
please tell us about stools?

InactiveHis stools are strange right now due to the Prevacid. They’re all foamy now (his mouth has lots of spit bubbles too) – I’m assuming due to the medicine. Before we started Prevacid they were mucousy (yellow not green). So, I’m not sure how to tell if they’ve improved since the Prevacid is effecting them right now. I mentioned the foamy stools to my ped and he said it didn’t sound like a problem and to continue the medicine.

Keymastercould be a reaction to the strawberry flavoring in the packets? you can seperate out all the white beads (big pain in hte youknowwhat but there have been moms who do this) and just give those…if this helps then you know it was the flavoring and you’ve got one sensitive baby on your hands

InactiveThanks – I’ll try separating the balls out today and doing it that way. If he doesn’t need the pink part anyway, it wouldn’t hurt to try it and hopefully it will help! I’ll let you know. This is so hard – it’s like you have to be a detective and even then you don’t feel like you’re making any headway on figuring this out sometimes
I would give anything to be able to help him, so I hope this works. Nothing is too hard or time-consuming at this point!January 19, 2007 at 5:53 pm #22710Anonymous
InactiveEmily, I use the strawberry suspension. I actually make it up as suggested and syringe most of the strawberry liquid off (it is really only there to make it more palatable). Then I am only left with about 5mls and the beads.
I’d try without the strawberry first as suggested by Laura, but if it doesn’t make any diff, and you go back to the flavour, thats how I do it (I always felt 2 tb of the straberry sugary liquid was a little to much for my little one, who runs the risk of developing a big sweet tooth if anything like her mum
)I have a little one cup tea strainer- I have used that to separate the beads when I was experimenting with reducing the amount of strawberry flavour- the stawberry granules fall through and you are left with just the beads.
If you keep using the strawberry flavour and decide to reduce the overall amount of it after my experiiments, trust me it is just easier to make up the liquid and syringe most of the liquid of- the beads naturally fall to the bottom of the liquid.
Let us know how it goes.
