InactiveSarah and I have taken a bath together since she was about 2 months old. This has worked fine for everyone until lately…we always did a bath every other night but she is getting to a point where she needs a nightly bath. I don’t always want to take a bath with her…but I’m not sure what to do! We have one of those blue bath tub seats and it works OK, but the suction cups don’t stick so I have to keep ahold of the seat the whole time. I also realized that the tub seat is for ages 5-10 months. She will be 10 months in a few weeks…what comes next???? Did your little ones sit up on their own in the tub at 10 months? She is, of course, very capable of sitting up on her own…I’m just nervous about her slipping and getting a mouthful of water. She doesn’t sit still for ANYTHING! I can just see her try to take off crawling in the tub. Should I get those slip proof pads for the bottom of the tub? Should I let her lunge head first in the water just so she learns she can’t do that? (She tries all the time now)
What did you do during this transitional bath time age?

InactiveWe give Taylor in this tub. Munchikin makes it, it is inflatable and the beak squeaks. She loves it!

InactiveWe did a bath in the kitchen sink until Dylan could safely sit up on his own in anything in the bath tub…..

InactiveLauren and Sue: What ages can you use the duck and the seat until? DH and I shower in the tub we give her baths in, so I’m not thrilled about something always being in the tub. Having the blue seat in the tub lately has been a pain.
We put in a 2nd bathroom with a shower when we moved in to this house…but we never use it!

InactiveI always give my kids baths in the regular tub once they can sit up. I usually just hold onto their arm until they seem okay with sitting in there on their own. I just kept the water shallow enough that if they tied to crawl, they wouldn’t go underwater. I also just stayed close so I could catch them if they started to fall. Usually my babies have been content to just sit and splash and play with toys. If your tub is slippery, I would get something slip-proof for it.

Inactiveon the website its under the bathtubs for 7-12 months. BUT i am going to use until i feel like he can really sit on his own without slipping. i just bought it when he was 6 mos. old.
and it can attatch and detatch to the side of the bath tub.. so we just take it out when we arent using it.

InactiveI still use a bath ring for Myles, but for the girls from about a year old I did what Heather did; held them by one arm while I washed them and then stayed close by while they played with their tubby toys. I used a large bath mat with suction cups to keep them from sliding around or falling. I still use the bath ring for Myles because with all three of them in the tub it can get wild and I’m afraid he’ll get hurt.

InactiveI have used the duck once the girls are able to sit on their own and until they are just too big for the duck. Taylor also moves around a lot and does not sit still so she just bounces around in the duck and since the sides of the duck are so soft it doesn’t hurt her at all. I also lay her down with her head on the tail of the ducky to wash her her little leg rolls and she just loves it.

InactiveI just sit Justice in the tub. He has big brother to entertain him though so he doesn’t try to crawl around too much. Will your seat not stick due to the bottom. I can’t get anything to stick either. The bottom is rough, but the kids could still slip. You could get a bath mat. We had one for Luke when he was a baby. I would make sure you take out everytime and hang it on the side or it will get moldy. You could also put a towl down on the bottom. It will get nice and wet, but she won’t slip that way.

InactiveKaelyn LOVED the duck. We used it until she got too big for it. When my sister would visit she just put it on the floor while she showered. Ibelieve that it suctions to the wall too. Right now, Alex is still in the sink, but we gave her a bath in the tub with Kaelyn last night and she did really well. We have a bath mat to keep them from slipping.

InactiveI just do the hold the arm thing or hand behind the back thing when Alana is sitting in the bath…i worry a bit about hitting her head on the bath though…well one night when dad was bathing her this happened
. Well, I think it all gave us a scare and I have been looking around at different seating options…February 16, 2007 at 10:51 pm #25101Anonymous
InactiveThank you so much for all of the different suggestions! I think I have decided that if I am going to invest money into a new bath seat…it will be for me! I might try to give her a bath all by herself in the tub and purchase a comfy seat for me to have next to the tub. We definitely need some non slip things too. Thanks again!!
Uh oh it worked!!!!!…you guys are in trouble now! I finally figured out how to post pictures directly into the message!
I promise not to post tooooooooooooooo many of Sarah in my messages.
