InactiveI think mine is from the sharper image too. As for the early wakings, I think it is normal that kids wake up early and play for even as long as an hour, and then go back to sleep. I know Ben is not going back to sleep, but he has gotten in the habit somewhat of waking up earlier probably. We have this rule at our house that Brianna can’t get up out of her crib until 7am (granted we are not hard and fast about it, you know with everything with babies you have to be flexible), but basically it is because Brianna used to wake up at 5:30am. Now we didn’t just say one day that she had to stay in there an extra hour and a half…what we did was start to move it back about 15 min every few days until we got to 7am…now Brianna sleeps most days until 7 and when she doesn’t, she really doesn’t cry or fuss or anything…she will just play until we come and get her. Maybe try that with Ben and eventually he will start sleeping later. Oh one more thing…start the time from when he starts to fuss. If he wakes up at 5:30, but just wants to play, let it go. When you hear him start to cry out, wait 15 (or ten or whatever you decide) and then get him. Push is back more each day until you get to what time you think is reasonalbe. Good luck!

InactiveThat’s sort of what I did with Myles too. He used to be up at 4am every day!! Then finally he began to sleep until 5am. I just wasn’t going to start my day that early so I’d turn down the monitor and let him play or whine or whatever. If he screamed I’d give him his nuk. He used to be up 1 -1 1/2 hours every morning before going back to sleep. Now he wakes up usually between 5:30 and 6:30. I give him his nuk and he goes right back to sleep until we get up 7:30 ish. It took months to train him to do this but now it’s part of his own internal time clock.

Keymasterwe used ocean sounds for jonah, too. it’s a sony clock radio w/ a cd player- the other functions didn’t work, just the sounds, but that’s all we needed…
I couldn’t find the sony one we have but it’s the same idea as this http://cgi.ebay.com/HOMEDICS-SS-400B-ALARM-CLOCK-SOUND-MACHI NE_W0QQitemZ190084598384QQihZ009QQcategoryZ82594QQrdZ1QQcmdZ ViewItem

InactiveThanks everyone! I will look at Sharper Image and Radio Shack.
As for the waking… Emily and Christine.. we pretty much do the same thing. I try to just leave him in there until 7 or so. He usually doesn’t really start crying until then anyway. He has played in there for over an hour before as well. I’m ok with that. It could definitely be worse, but it’s just such a pain because our house is SO small that I am awake the whole time too. Oh well. Hopefully, he will just start going back to sleep soon.

InactiveYes, I know what you mean. I never got much sleep after Myles woke up either; until I started turning down the monitor. We have white noise in our room as well (neither dh or I can sleep without it) so that helps alot since our house isn’t very big either.
Hopefully Ben will adjust to your sleeping schedule and begin to sleep in later in the mornings. I never thought I’d see the day with Myles, but he does really well now.

InactiveWe also use a white noise machine with Hailey. We got it at walmart for about 15 bucks. I really like it- it has quite a few options for sounds, and can go from soft to loud. It’s made by obus forme.

InactiveI actually just bought a mini fan from tafget, and it seems to work great. So much so that we didn’t hear our older son wake up crying down the hall….
