InactiveI am thinking of switching from Dreft to an “all free” type of detergent to see if that helps at all with Marisa’s recent rash.
Any ideas for a good one to try for her clothes and mine I guess too?

InactiveSame here too. I used to wash my dd clothes seperately before and once I tried adding one of her clothes with ours while washing and see whether its giving her any rash…it did not. Now, I wash hers along with ours (I rinse her clothes with any spits or soiled ones before hand)

a bunch of her sheets and pajamas and all before bed tonight.February 28, 2006 at 9:59 pm #2721Anonymous
InactiveI have used All Free & Clear, but prefer Cheer Free (also dye and fragrance free) . The colorguard protection it offers seems to really work. I use Bounce Free for our fabric softener.

InactiveMy kids all have excema, and it improved dramatically when I switched to ALL Free and Clear. I’ve been using it for years. I do notice some color fading in dark clothes and some pilling…not sure if it’s due to the detergent. Someone else said Cheer Free with Color Guard may be better. I may try it. Also, my doctor says to use only DOVE soap on the children because all other soaps (especially baby stuff which is supposed to be gentle) can aggravate excema. Your little one’s rash may not be excema, but trying DOVE may help. I only use the unscented DOVE. That also has helped with my children’s excema and dry skin. ALSO, I’ve hear that you are not supposed to wash your children’s hair in the bathtub, or if you do, wait until you’re about ready to take them out of the tub, because sitting in the shampoo water can be irritating to their skin, especially for little girls. I wash my children’s hair in the kitchen sink, then put them in the tub. Hope some of this helps.

InactiveOh, I forgot to mention that if you want to try DOVE soap, only buy the BARS (unscented), not the new liquid body soaps Dove now makes. They are not as gentle as the bars.
