InactiveWe just found out and we’re thrilled!!! Thought I’d share (am now 5 months pregnant). I now need to start thinking of names! All the ones I’m drawn to are on the top 10 lists. Any suggestions??? Also, could use any ideas of how to start making my little man, Ian, get used to the idea of a new addition. I’m just starting to show and I do explain but being only 18 months, I’m not sure he really gets it (and he is totally a Mama’s boy).
Still terrified of the reflux/mspi thing but feeling more hopeful these days…maybe since the sex is different so will be the digestive system!!!

InactiveCongratulations and Best wishes for a healthy, reflux-free baby girl! I really like the name Brooke and for us it would go well with Brodie!

InactiveFunny, Robin, as our Girl’s name was going to be Brooke Marien (Marien for David’s grandmother). I always loved the name Paige Hope or Emily Katherine…..
I will never have a girl, though, so I will have to live vicariously through all you mother’s of daughters here

InactiveCongratulations, Tracy! That’s so exciting!
Are you going to have any other ultrasounds? If so, ask them to verify the gender for you again. I recently had a good friend who was told twice that she was having a boy, and it was a girl, and the same thing recently happened to my sil. We were told a girl with Hailey and they were right.
As for names, I wanted Leah Rebecca (pronounced Leeah, but dh thought that everyone would say it like princess Leah from star wars, so he wouldn’t agree). He wanted Chelsea, but I like biblical names. Somehow we ended up with Hailey. I found girls names so much harder than boys.
Congrats again.

InactiveAbout the preparing bit, Sarah was 20 months when Hailey was born. We just talked about it a lot, and had her talk to the belly, and talk about what things would be like when her little sister came. We read books, and we tried to involve her in “unimportant” choices- like which blanket do you think the baby would like. We tried to hang around with people who had babies so she could see what they were like, and we also showed her lots of pictures from when she was a baby, including video.
The thing is, that I don’t think anything really prepares them for what it’s like (at least not if Hailey is the baby that arrives), but that’s what we did.

InactiveHow are you feeling, BTW?

InactiveCongratulations!! A sweet little girl! How wonderful.

Liza was only 20 months old when Eliana was born. It didn’t seem like there was much I could do at that age to prepare her. I read books about babies to her but she was still a baby herself. It all worked out fine though. She adapted quite well.
As for names, If Myles had been a girl I would have named him, I mean her, Mirabella. It means “to see beauty.” Her middle name would have been Mesa (pronounced Maysa), which means miracle. I won’t be having any more babies so feel free to use my name.
I also really like Lilia (spanish or Italian version of Lily) or Liliana. Oh, and I absolutley love the name Lydia.

InactiveThanks everyone-so much!!! It’s so great to share good news! Keep the names coming! I love them all.
Lori-thanks for the tip but we’re pretty certain. I had an amino this time and have already had 3 major ultrasounds (I’m a high risk pregnancy) so the chromesome test is definitive. Plus, I have them every 3 weeks until the last month and then every week. I love getting to see and check in on them. Ian came out looking EXACTLY like he did in the ultrasound:). As for how I’m feeling-exhausted! It’s so much harder when you have a toddler boy getting into everything. I often go to bed at 8:30pm!! Nausea has been a 1000 x worse this time too-living in NYC is so much fun when you’re throwing up on every street corner. Thankfully, it’s been over a week and I’m feeling better in that dept. Finally, this little gal is taking all my good looks! I’m getting acne like I was a teenager. LOL. It’s all worth it!

InactiveCongratulations! That is so exciting. For names, I actually like Leah too and that was my choice for a girl. Funny, my dh later told me he did not like it either but entertained it since he knew we were having a boy all along! Now since we have a Seth, I like Sarah Meredith. I have also always liked the name Brooke and had a baby doll I named that when I was young but it does not flow with our last name. Others I like are Madeline, Hannah, Abigail and Rebekah-there are just too many to choose from! I think girl names are harder in general. My neighbor is also preg. with # 2, but the first girl and she said it has been so much tougher coming up with a name this time. I can’t wait to hear what you decide on.

InactiveCongratulations Tracy – so exciting!! Hope you start to feel better soon!

InactiveHope the nausea passes soon. I also found it harder to cope with feeling ill when you had a little one to look after.

InactiveCongrats! yea, for a girl! I hope you feel better soon. My mom always told me that the morning sickness was worse if you were pregnant with a girl. Turned out to be true in our case, but boy was I WAY more tired the second time around.
Anyway, Claire went unnamed for 2 days in the hospital because I just couldn’t decide, but here are a few we considered:
Amelia (this was my favorite, by far), Caroline, and Gillian (pronounced Jillian).
A friend of mine named her little girl Sylvia. They call her Sylvie which I think is really cute!

InactiveCongratulations Tracy! That’s so neat that you get to have a girl now!
(I want one!
) I definitely felt more tired with my second (& third). It’s hard chasing those little ones when you’re pregnant! It’s funny that a lot of you have had a hard time thinking of girl names. Josh & I have had two girl names picked out our whole marriage, and have had a hard time thinking of boy names. Of course we keep having boys!
Well, I hope you get feeling better soon, and having fun choosing a name.
