InactiveDo you save all of your children’s artwork? At first, I was real sentimental when Seth started to make things at preschool and could not bear to throw any of it away but he’s just over two and we already have quite a collection…. So, I am tossing the pages now where he may have just colored one line or so and only keeping the project type stuff. Any suggestions on how to store it?? I had a thought to send something to the grandparents weekly but that seems like a lot of work although I know they would look forward to getting it.

InactiveI would get a rubbermaid bin and then plan on scrapbooking at some point. That is what we do for now, but I have to admit, I am a t**ser. I know, rotton mommy, but with preschool and before with daycare, I get at least 5 or 6 art projects a week, so it would be impossible to keep them all….
Sending something is a great idea! How about some cheap photo albums that you could just put the artwork in? Work, I know, but so nice you would want to send….

InactiveWell, I know this is going to make me sound like the WORST parent around, but I often think that they should have a recycling bin at the daycare beside the kids’ cubbies to toss most of the artwork into. We get TONS of it every day, and now that Sarah is big on cutting, we get a lot of strangely cut up pieces of paper that she “made”.
At first, I was really sentimental, keeping lots of stuff, but now I toss it right into the recycling in bulk (when they’re not looking of course). I scan through for the “special ones”, like handprints, or something that catches my eye, but for the most part, it makes it’s way to the blue bin. There’s just too much stuff, and I figured that if it’s accumulating at this rate and we’re only in daycare, my house will be full by the time the two of them reach university.
On that note, I have started a memory box for each of them. I bought a clear tupperware bin, and put in Sarah’s report card, her first piece of artwork, a special picture she made, a card she gave me, a family picture, her class photo, and a few other tidbits that I accumulated for that year. Then I a note that I sealed in an envelope about what I love about her, and what special things she amazed me with. I closed it and labelled it. She has two of them, and Hailey’s is still in progress.
I plan to keep them all, and then maybe pare them down at some point and give it to them as a keepsake.

Keymasterjonah’s school had a fund-raiser & was selling these: http://www.schoolfolio.com/
I bought one as a gift but of course (doh!) didn’t buy one for me…
lori: I love your ideas of the notes!!

InactiveI heard of this idea from somewhere: Collect all prized artwork for a given time (week-month) on the fridge, then allow the child to pick one piece of their favorite art work to save in a special box. You can take a digital picture of the rest before you recycle it or send it off to the grandparents to enjoy!

InactiveI do what Lori does. I have a time capsule or memory box (really a big rubbermaid tote) and I save some of the special things they make along with other sentimental items. And I take digital pictures of some of the other drawings and things to put in their scrapbook.
