InactiveSo my baby did wonderfully last week. Beautiful, happy baby. The past couple of days she has been back to not wanting to feed, eat, and is fussy. The ONLY thing that is different is that I had some raw tomatoes?
Could that be what hurts? I mean, we’re talking 2-3 slices of tomato on a sandwich and stuff, not a lot, but could that be enough?
I’m just at my wits end and so sad and depressed today. If it were the tomatoes I would be so happy.

InactiveTomatoes can be pretty acidic. I know one mom, Christine (Ndrose) maybe?, said that she used to watch a baby who would react to tomatoes.. this was a non-refluxer too. So, in short, very possibly could be the tomatoes… that being said, reflux is a changeable beast. I ate the same thing every day for MONTHS and Ben still had great days followed by HORRID ones. I never could figure out why.

InactiveYes, I used to babysit a little boy (a non-refluxer) who would just be miserable if his mom ate tomatoes. She pumped and left breast milk for me to feed him and I could actually smell the tomatoes in his spit up if she’d had some the day before. I think Laura said tomatoes were bad for Jonah, too. In any case they are acidic so I can see them bothering a baby.

InactiveGod I hate the reflux! Yes, she is on meds, you can see my other post in HELP! section.
I am just so sad and worn out and tired of trying to figure out why she can go a whole WEEK and be a happy baby and then suddenly again she’s a beast and won’t latch on. I know you guys know, but god, I don’t know how some of you do this when they don’t grow out of it at 3-4 months.

Inactivepart of your problem could also be that she needs a PPI. for most of our babies on here, zantac didnt do much in terms of helping the pain.
3-4 months?! i have never heard of a baby outgrowing reflux that early. the earliest i have seen on this board was 9 months. my son is 11 months and still struggles…sometimes.

InactiveHang in there Stephanie.
You should read some of my posts… pit of despair, for real. I know how hard it is, and I sometimes feel it’s a miracle that we all make it through another day.
I think one of the most frustrating aspects of reflux is that it’s SO variable. You think you have it under control and then, BOOM it hits you all over again. You end up feeling so helpless, and what mom wants to feel that way? I would constantly pray that the days would go by quicker so that he would grow up and outgrow this soon. How sad to wish his infant days away..
I just wanted someone or something to blame.
While what Natalia said about few babies outgrowing it by 3 or 4 months is true, I think we would all agree that it does get BETTER. We still still have bad days over here too, but the bad is not the nightmare it used to be, and the good is SO much better.

Keymasterhey there,
jonah did react to tomatoes when I ate tomato products- I could tell because after doing the elimination diet (so my system was ‘cleared out’ lol) about 3hrs or so after I ate a meal with tomato sauce, jonah had a massive ‘acid attack’ – refluxing, howling/shrieking etc. well, I love pasta so I decided to try again a few nights later & ugh- same thing…I decided then to up & quit tomatoes/tomato products…
he also reacted to eggplant and tuna…
