InactiveIsaac had a lot of crusty stuff around his eye last night and now this morning it is all over his eye and his eye is red. Is this pink eye? Do i need to take him to the dr?

InactiveIt sounds like pink eye to me. Marisa’s not had it yet, but I used to
get it quite often – it can be caused by a virus or an infection, or
even allergies. Is it also goopy? Is he itching it?I’d call the doctor and let them know and probably bring him in.

InactiveYes it is goopy with yellow green stuff now. He keeps rubbing both eyes so i am not sure if it is itchy or not. I guess i will call the ped when they open today. I am so clueless about this stuff! Thank you! How are the solids going? Much better i hope!

InactiveYea – definitely call and check. sounds like pink eye or something like that to me. Hope he feels better soon!
Solids going OK I think. Still not sure if the forehead rash was from
the avocado or not. Carrots were tolerated fine but made constipation
worse I think – nothing but pebbles for days. Continuing on for now –
back to pears to see if help move things along and then maybe some pear
combinations – Gerber organic (Tender Harvest) sells pear/blueberry and
pear/winter squash. So hard to tell with things.March 7, 2006 at 9:02 am #3134Anonymous
InactiveI have never tried the blueberry one but Isaac loves the pear/winter squash one! I love the organic stuff so much but now we are moving to table food and real organic food is just not in the budget right now! I forget-are you still adding cereal to every bottle?

InactiveGood luck with the table food!
No cereal at all (bottle or spoon) for 6-8 weeks now. If we can get her
going again might try oatmeal by spoon (since it mixes nice with some
of the fruits).Let us know what the doctor says

Inactivepinkeye! If you get drops right away, it will clear up in a snap.

InactiveThe nurse finally called me back and gave us a prescription for eye drops. She said it sounded like a bacterial pink eye b/c of the green eye crusty stuff. She said after 24 hours he will not be contagious anymore!

Keymasterblueberry- I think this can be sensitive for kids who’re allergy prone…I don’t think you’re supposed to give blueberry before a year?

InactiveReally re blueberry? Thx – didn’t know that. I had thought that was
only for raspberry and strawberry and blueberry is low on that chart
posted on this site for introducing solids to the allergic child.Sarah – hope the drops are helping and Isaac is feeling better!

InactiveSarah,
This might be too late but until those drops start working pink eye is very
contagious. Wash your hands a lot and don’t rub your eyes! It’s not a
huge deal as pink eye is not really dangerous but it is very annoying
(especially if you wear contacts). I’ve gotten it twice from my
daughter.
Also a trick with the eye drops… Issac doesn’t have to have his eyes
open. Have him lay down and then put a drop in the inside corner of
his eye. When he opens his eye it will go right in. HTH!Karen

InactiveThanks for the eye drop tip Karen! I am going to try it as soon as he wakes up from his nap!! It has been a wrestling match so far and I am not winning
. My eye is pink already and i am not sure if it is pink eye b/c it doesn’t itch. More than likely it is allergies so i have started my eye allergy drops!March 8, 2006 at 10:36 pm #3352Anonymous
InactiveIf the drops don’t clear it up there is also an ointment that works really well! Katharine and I had pink eye at least twice per month for the first 6 months of her life. Keep a close eye on it. If it seems to clear up but then the eyelid swells at all take her to the doctor IMMEDIATELY. This happened to Katharine. The doctor had us come in on a Saturday morning when I called with a question and met us at the office. Apparently if it moves into the eyelid it can potentially kill the eyeball itself. However you will know if it moves up there, Katharine looked as though someone punched her. Much different then regular ol’ pink eye. Also if you contract the pink eye, throw away all of your eye makeup of any kind because you could contract it again.
