Hi there–

My 4-month-old son is taking 7.5 MG of Prevacid twice a day and 1.8 ML of Zantac twice a day. Does that mean that each dose needs to be 12 hours apart? Or is there a little wiggle room there? I’m trying to avoid having to wake him up in the middle of the night to give him a dose (since I’ve been reading that the Zantac and Prevacid need to be given 4 hours apart for the Prevacid to work effectively). If the doses need to be 12 hours apart, it’s going to be very tough to get the meds in. Thanks.

maybe give the prevacid when he wakes in the am

& before bed in the pm

and zantac 2x during the day? like before/after naps?

never wake a sleeping baby, LOL!!

or give some zantac when he wakes to eat in the night

Like Laura said, you could give Prevacid at 7 or 8 am, Zantac at noon and 4 pm, and Prevacid at 8pm.

I wouldn’t wake a sleeping baby either.

So it’s not a big deal if the the Zantac doses aren’t exactly 12 hours apart?

nope. do what works best for you…you can even ‘divide’ the doses ‘unevenly’ to give a higher dose at the more needed time…

example: if 4pm is a rough time, then give 2.5mls of zantac and then the other dose is 1.1 ml…

you can play around with how much when
