Help! My Eight week old DD is on Zantac for about 2 weeks, with some improvement – still gagging, coughing, weezing, silent refluxing, spitting up (no more projectile though, yeah!) but not as much. She is about 11 pounds and taking .5 ml two times a day. For the last two days she has been very sleepy, barely awake at all. I know sleepyness can be a side effect, but excessive sleepyness can be a problem. She will wake up but has a hard time staying awake (never thought I’d complain about her sleeping too much!) and dozes off almost immediately. What should I do…worry, not worry…call ped, wait for appt on the 13th…pull my hair out because this is all so hard……..

Help!

Hi, I would probably get your bub checked out by a Dr. The only time Alana was like this, she had an infection that she was fighting. This might not be the case for your bub, but I think excessive sleepyness is a good reason to call your pead. Keep us posted.

sleeping can be a sign of improvement if she wasn’t sleeping before…

Thanks for the link. As if there wasn’t enough to know about babies…I never even heard of babies with reflux before. I appreciate the help!
