Inactiveok my little one loves fruits and cereal
, but i tried to give him veggies (carrots, and peas so far) and he hates them
first i tried peas he vomited them, today i tried the carrots he was making this funny face
and them he tried to vomit them so i quit and gave him some apple juice i dont know what to do and i really think it will be good for him to eat different things but it seems like the only solids he wants are apples, pears and bananas and of course rice and oatmeal cereals. anyways any suggestions pleasePlease!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

InactiveI wouldn’t worry too much about it. I think most babies are somewhat resisitant to veggies. I would continue to offer them, becuase one day he will decide he likes them, but in the mean time, don’t make it a big deal. I am a believer that babies pick up on things. If he makes a bad face or whatever, just move onto the next thing.

InactiveMaybe try mixing a few teaspoons of carrots into his applesauce and if he accepts it try adding a little more carrots each day until he adapts to them. You can probably try this with any of the veggies. I’ve used this trick with all three of my babies and it worked like a charm.

Keymastertry offering finger foods
sounds weird but my little guy wanted so badly to just do it himself

so, put a few peas (squoosh them flat first- that’s what I do, lol, I use either frozen organic or canned organic) on his tray as you feed him- he might be interested- he might just play with them but hey it’s something

it’s not too young for those star puffs, too, and they come in carrot flavor, I do believe…
As someone who had a baby who didn’t eat very much at that age, we’re now at close to 11 months and doing fine (phew!)
yeah & try some in the cereal too- again sounds weird but babies don’t know that veggies don’t go in cereal, LOL

InactiveThat’s true…I still give Myles carrots or sweet potatoes for breakfast, and my girls ate carrots or sweet potatoes mixed in their oatmeal until they were 2 yrs old!

Inactivepeas are thick and carrots can be a little chucky for some reason, maybe try a different veggie?? lots of babies LOVE sweet potatoes, and they seem to be a little smoother for some reason.
Also, try, try, try again. I think it’s supposed to take babies like 17 separate tastes of something to really decide if they like it or not.

InactiveI’d probably give sweet potato a whirl…they call it sweet for a reason
. Then if he does OK with this you can try mixing other veges in. Thats what I did with Alana and she can do most veges these days.June 7, 2007 at 8:56 am #35859Anonymous
InactiveI would try a different veggie and if that doesn’t work try mixing with either the cereal of the fruit. Sometimes babies that get fruits first have a hard time with veggies b/c the fruits taste “sweet” and the veggies don’t… so mixing may be a good option.

InactiveI would also try different veggies… sweet potatoes and squash are often favourites. I would also try to make some of your own baby food if you have the time. It’s really easy and the veggies really do taste so much better (at least to me, who knows to a baby, I guess!). I would just keep offering it and see what happens. It can take more than 10-20 tries for them to accept new tastes. I’d also try mixing fruit with a bit of veggie- like apple and sweet potato taste good together, or squash and pear, or apple and carrot (especially if you make the veggie yourself then add some fruit). Avocado mashed up is another yummy one they usually like. Good luck.

InactiveI would also add a bit of veggie to his favourite cereal and see if he’ll take that.
