Oh, the pool water dilemna!!! I dump and refill my children’s pool water (muttering under my breath about what a drag it is ) every day, all summer long. I never even thought of the germs that could be in it….I do it mainly because of the bugs and the dirt they track in.
I dump and refill every day as well. There have actually been days when I dump it in the middle of the day and refill for our afternoon session. Kaelyn loves to climb in and out so it gets really dirty.
Back in the day, my mother used bleach to keep our pool clean! I know, gasp! We all survived though.. just some pretty faded bathing suits and 4 blond kids!
I am so NOT the cleaning type person- I am so bad about these things- but over on TBW there’s a Simple Living Forum where people post & rave about the cleansing properties of vinegar…maybe try spraying it w/ vinegar b/t uses? what’s the worst that could happen- your kiddos smell like salad dressing, LOL!
Sarah is a water baby as well and her sitter really thinks we need a baby pool for Sarah (b/c she loves the one at daycare so much). HOWEVER, I was not thrilled about filling and dumping everyday…does it really have to be everyday??? UGH! How about every other day?? We do have a membership to the country club so DH and I can golf (well, once upon a time when I had FREE TIME)…maybe I need to start taking advantage of the pool there so I don’t have to mess with it???
I think if you have a cover and only one small child using it, you can probably get away with every other day. I used to cover Liza’s pool when it was just her and sometimes it was still clean the next day.
