InactiveHi, I posted our update in the Hip, Hip Hooray forum, but a quick repeat is that Jonathan is starting solid foods finally. I’m looking for any tips on graduating him from stage three foods to finger foods, etc. At 13 months, he’s not even eating crackers yet. We just started cheerios last week and are doing well on those. We are still avoiding milk and soy products for a while. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Keymasterthere’s links to finger foods from my welcome/intro- to find that do a search for ‘groupie’ and you should find the welcome/intro

off the top of my head (mostly from the health food supermarket)- dissolving foods like pirate booty, natural cheetos (yum!!), veggie sticks, rice cakes-just cruise up & down the cereal & snack isles at the health food market-
like I said, my welcome/intro has links

InactiveWe’re working with a speech therapist and she’s having us use puff type snacks that you can bite and they’ll dissolve as Hailey’s first finger foods. She has us using cheezies, but I have to say I’m eating more than hailey is!! Also, rice cakes, veggie bootie, veggie stix.
Okay, I just realized this is everything that Laura listed above. Basically she wanted us to use snacks that Hailey won’t choke on pieces of . We still can’t handle cheerios or anything that’s gaggable.
Glad to hear he’s doing so great.

Well, since you BOTH agree…
I haven’t tried the rice cakes yet, but that sounds like a good option. He is eating cheerios though, so we’re making progress. It was hard restarting foods with him this time after our “break”. It was/is more difficult to get him to eat now that he’s 13 months. At 7 months, he’d try anything… I wonder how long I have to wait before giving him small pieces of real food from our family meal. I’m trying hard not to rush him and move to fast, but surely the transition should be quicker since he is older and able to chew? Just hoping…
Laura, thanks for the link suggestion… I’m just now finding time to start the search. At least I will if Jonathan doesn’t wake up early from his nap!

InactiveLast night we tried Ian’s sweet potato fries. She held it in her hand and sucked on it a bit. No eating, but she didn’t throw it right on the floor, so maybe something like that is an option as well. Let us know how it goes.

InactiveWe tried homemade french fries tonight and they were a big hit! I cut them into small pieces at first and after smashing the first few on his tray, he finally put one in his mouth. That’s all it took. He loves them.
And he didn’t gag once!! Yippee!I’ll have to try sweet potato fries next.

InactiveGreat idea! Anything to get more nutrition in the boy. Although his weight gain has picked up in the last month, so we’re in a good place right now.
