InactiveDoes anyone know if this exists? Maybe ricemilk yogurt? I’m thinking of soon cutting out Dagney’s afternoon bottle, but before I do that, I need to find some healthy, calcium-rich snacks she can eat…does anyone have any suggestions??

InactiveYep, there is a ricera yogurt.. i think that is how you spell it. Its based on rice of course. No dairy or soy. I get it at our local health food store. Shane didn’t mind it too much, i added some vanilla rice milk to it. But for some reason he cant handle any yogurt! i think its the sweeteners.. he ALWAYS spits up afterwards.
Well i hope you find some!

InactiveThanks, Lauren!
I found the Ricera today and Dagney tasted it…she HATED it! She hated it almost as much as she hated the little macaroni in the canned Hunt’s sauce that I gave her at lunch! (She scrunched her face up, shook her head, put her hands in the air and kept clenching & unclenching her fingers!) The macaroni I am hoping it was just the sauce (I tried it & it was pretty bad, I bought the salt-free & it’s gross, so I’m just going to make my own.), but the Ricera I tried & didn’t like too much either. Our natural market only had vanilla & blueberry, so I tried vanilla b/c she hasn’t had blueberries yet. What flavor did you try? Their website says they have peach too, so I’ll try to see if maybe Whole Foods has that since she really likes peaches. Or does anyone have any other ideas?July 31, 2007 at 9:19 pm #40252Anonymous
Inactiveohh sorry! i did the blueberry and strawberry ones.. he didnt love them either. but he would eat maybe 1/4 of it.. the vanilla rice milk helped flavor it some. hopefully the peach is better.

Keymasterhmm…calcium rich….
well you can make pancakes w/ blackstrap molasses in the batter-not a yogurt, lol, but a carb…or make muffins or bake squash or sweet potato (has vitamin C) with some. Ari really likes baked squash with blackstrap molasses (‘hard’ squashes have Vitamin C- not sure about the ‘soft’ ones)…1 Tablespoon of blackstrap molasses has Percent Daily Value of :Calcium 20%Iron 20 %Viatamin A 20%Potassium 10%I *think* you need vitamin C to help the body absorb the iron (anyone know about this? someone posted this on TBW) so it was suggested to serve w/ apricot like apricot puree or preserve… aha! here it is from http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/pfitness/0,,45h5,00.html:Vitamin C will enhance the absorption of iron many fold. However, for it to do so, it must be taken simultaneously with the iron. Both vitamin C and iron must be present together in the intestine for the positive effect to occur. That is why it is a good idea to drink orange juice with your iron fortified cereal in the morning or to eat broccoli with your meat.
