Hi Laura-

As I wait to pop this little girl out anyday, I noticed your post about Cherry Mylanta Supreme and it working for refluxers and non alike. It never did anything for Ian but then again he was so severe with allergies/reflux. Just to remind myself, what is an ok dose for newborns? Or do you have to wait until 1-2 months? I want to be prepared for EVERYTHING! Even though I plan on breastfeeding in the beginning again, I’m still bringing a can of Elecare to the hospital just in case we have to supplement a little again! I read somewhere that even the smallest amount of milk formulas can trigger allergies in the beginning if used early enough. I’m also going to avoid all dairy in my diet for awhile too and then add back in.

I do have hope for an ok digestive system (faith) BUT am preparing.

I’m not Laura either, but we were giving Seth the Mylanta from about 3 weeks on. We started out with .5 cc 10-15 minutes before each feed.

I used it as soon as we got home from the hospital I think? I was so quick to jump the gun!! I even had some leftover zantac from jonah I gave him bcse every cry I thought was reflux…

I wrote this a while back:

As for Ari: I truly feel he has mild mild MILD reflux [editing this july 31: I think all babies reflux??] but, I also don’t know what a ‘normal’ baby is like, unfortunately…He winds up getting mylanta maybe once a day, if that. I guess you could say I’m ‘mylanta happy’ but I truly don’t think a ml here and there (no more than 2, total in a day) is going to harm him…It’s just that I hear him glerping (internal wet hiccup sound) and gasping and doing all the silent reflux stuff that Jonah did. However, when Jonah would exhibit any one of the symptoms I see Ari have, it would have set Jonah off howling /shrieking inconsolably for hours. With Ari, he lets out a yelp and cries for just a minute…BIG difference!
