InactiveDoes anyone know if blueberries are ok at 10 1/2 months? I bought the rice yogurt, and they only had blueberry, I’d like to give it to Dagney, but she hasn’t had blueberries yet. I know early on berries aren’t ok, but are they ok by now?
Thanks!August 1, 2007 at 7:42 pm #40291hellbennt

InactiveGreat, thanks! I knew strawberries could be a problem, my neice had a problem with them even at 15 months or so, so I’ll hold off on them for a while, but we’ll try the blueberry “yogurt” tomorrow.

InactiveHey Denise. Ben LOVES blueberries! I still cut them in half for him, but he would eat a ton if I let him. The first time I tried them, I thought they were bothering him, but now he is totally fine. I see them in his poo though!
Don’t think he totally digests the skin.August 1, 2007 at 9:53 pm #40304Anonymous
Inactiveohhh Naomi! Thank God you said that! i was starting to get worried! They are always in his poo too!! its soo strange. But today i broke them in half and now they arents. weird huh?
But yes, Blueberries should be fine.. and we did strawberries after a yr. Watch out because most kids LOVE blueberries.. they will eat the whole carton if they can!August 2, 2007 at 4:14 am #40309Anonymous

InactiveThanks everyone!! I gave her the blueberry rice milk yogurt today, and she seemed to really like it. I’m really excited, it opens up a whole new area of foods we can give her–blueberry pancakes, blueberry muffins…mmm! I’m SO afraid she’ll choke on things, though, that I cut them up super small–I’d definitely cut the blueberries in half-I actually cut the little green bean pieces that come in the Gerber jars in 1/2 and the peach pieces into at leats 1/2, maybe even thirds! She’s gagged a few times, I’m sure this is normal, right?? How small should I make the pieces?

Inactivehmm, i think if you cut the blueberry in half that should be fine. It’ll give her the chance to practice finger foods.. much tinier and its almost like chunky babyfood
.. i think its normal to gag for a while until they get used to it. thats great she liked the yogurt! whoo hoo!August 5, 2007 at 3:12 pm #40522Anonymous
InactiveI gave Adian blue berries at 8 months, but we have no history of food allergies. I always gave him frozen blue berries cut in 4ths, he still loves them! They never completely freeze so it was like eating a miniature blueberry icey.
