InactiveHi All,
I just wanted to let you all know I just saw this on Yahoo…Fisher-Price is recalling millions of toys for having high lead counts in its paint. Most of the toys look like Dora, Elmo, and Sesame Street toys. The link I found is:August 2, 2007 at 8:50 am #40322Anonymous

InactiveI think the website may be crashing or something b/c it says something about too much trafic for the site. Check again later.
I just skimmed through it out early this morning and my sister has the little people farm set on there. There are a lot of toys included so I’m going to look again later.August 2, 2007 at 9:57 am #40331hellbennt
Keymasterthe site worked for me just now- really slow-
we just got a LOT of the items listed for the boys’ birthday!!AND, we have other items from before may, but who knows if THEY are even safe? jonah LOVES his sesame street figures!!!August 2, 2007 at 10:01 am #40332Anonymous
InactiveWe have two of the toys on the list (thanks for the link with the pics, Laura!). Only one though was bought after May 1, 2007. Am I correct in thinking it is only the ones purchased after this date that are affected?

InactiveThe toys that were purchased after May 1, 2007 were the ones affected. Unfortunately we have quite a few of the the Dora and Diego toys! There are just so many parts that come with each of the little figurenes so I collected them all and now are in a bag. Alexis has been asking about her Dora toys, waiting for the company to send the labels for return! It is such a horrible thing especially with the Sesame street toys and Dora/Diego all gear towards younger kids who always put toys in their mouths!!!

Inactivewasn’t it china that made the dog food that used the tainted gluten? i heard that they executed someone who was in charge of food regulation.(i can’t think of what his actual title was—but obviously they were unhappy with him) they have been having a real problem with this type of stuff.

InactiveThere has been a BIG problem with things made in China lately. They don’t have good regulations there right now, and there have been several things that have been dangerous that have been shipped to Canada (and the US)- exploding fake duracell batteries, poisonous toothpaste, problems with lead paint, tainted food, and then the dog food fiasco. Right now we’ve been told not to buy anything made in China if we can help it. I’d prefer if the government just banned their imports to force their hand at getting this under control. It’s very scary. A LOT of imports here come from China. And I love shopping at the local Chinese supermarket. Lately I’ve had to be very careful. It’s scary.

InactiveWell, it is kind of outlawed, in the us the “acceptable level” of lead in paint is .06 , anything over gets yanked off the shelves, I think the level should be 0!
