Inactivejust wondering what you guys have found most successful for minimizing spitting after feeding (for a 5 mo old not sitting). i’ve been trying to carry him so he’s upright and straight, but he’s 19 lbs now and i’m dying… Plus my toddler is starting to act out from all the attention he’s been requiring.

InactiveWow 19 pounds! Love babywearing here! But, it hurts my back after 30 mins. Do you have an exersaucer? We have one in every room now. Just prop him in there with a blanket so he isn’t wobbly. Also, we bought this highchair that has 2 reclining positions by chicco. It reclines enough that she is at a slight angle with the belts not putting pressure on her belly. Good luck!

Keymasterbabywearing! with a mei tai for those heavier babies- it distributes the weight over both shoulders and around your waist…I’ve explained the various carriers here

InactiveThe bouncey seat works well for Myles. I find if I hold him after a feeding he is more likely to spit up, Maybe I jostle him around too much running around after my other two! He’s not sitting yet either, and he still likes his bouncey seat as long as he has toys or distractions. The saucer works fine for us, too. Keeps him upright and entertained.

InactiveI’ve been wearing him in the Baby Bjorn. I’m wearing him at least half of his waking hours and my back is even sore when I wake up now. My 100 lb body isn’t made for this! I’ll pull out the exersaucer today and give it a go. He doesn’t like the bouncer much or the highchair. That did make me think of his stroller (which he does well in). It might look a little funny, but who cares at this point.
Laura, did you wear Jonah on your back at all? The mei tai looks interesting, but I’m worried about getting him in place. Also, not too keen on the idea of him puking all over my back… I saw a nanny with some little hip hugger thingy and it looked interesting too.
Thanks for the ideas ladies.

InactiveIf you do want to do babywearing for longer periods of time – the Bjorn
probably isn’t the way to go. If I wear mine for more than 10-15
minutes, it kills my back and shoulders, even though Marisa loves it. I
can wear my hotsling (her fave is sitting on my hip) for a little
longer. After bottles if we are home we do the exersaucer for 15 minutes or so.
Marisa is crawling now and it’s ALL she wants to do but I do find I can
keep her busy in the saucer while she digests some. After solid meals
we sit in the booster seat for a little while playing with toys and the
toy tray that came with the seat.March 20, 2006 at 6:06 pm #4305hellbennt
Keymasteryes- I put jonah on my back
– started when he was a bit older, but with this next one, I’ll start younger I think, now that I know how to get him back there
– you can also put mei tei on in the front, like a bjorn, but MUCH more comfortable…it’s really not hard at all- takes a bit of a leap of faith, but once you do it, you (at least I did) have an ‘ah ha!’ moment

a hotsling is great! see above link for all the info…
