so,they did an endoscopy today and see mild inflammation, they change my dd to neocate from soy.

some neocate questions

does it still have protein like the other formulas

will she gain weight from it as well

how will her stools be

They also put her on 40 mg of nexium so if she starts feeling better, I won’t know if its the n exium or the neocate

Anyhow please advise…

We will wait till mon for biopsy results from scope

I would swear we have the same GI. Landen was put on Nexium the very day of his endoscopy too (although his was clear, but he still displays MAJOR symptoms of reflux and I told them I wasn’t leaving with “oh well, it’s clear..goodbye”)

As for the Neocate:

no milk or soy protein. I believe it is amino acid based. It is a very good/well tolerated formula.

Landen has gained weight very well on neocate. He is 6 mos and 19lbs 6oz.

Stools will be black or dark green/black. Ick. Beware of the smell too.

If she improves, it is probably a combo of the nexium and the neocate. And hey, if they are both working, don’t change a thing!

Ditto to everything Jill said……

My son did get a little constipated with neocate, that was the only other thing I noticed, but once he got used to it, he was fine. I also used prunes about every other day to get things going.

there’s more about neocate I think from ‘groupie intro’ under ‘what do I feed my gerdling?” – there’s info about the different formulas…you might want to check out the MSPI forum, too & the stickied post(s)…
