InactiveHi everyone. I haven’t read too many probiotic posts because I thought that they were really for if children were taking antibiotics. I was so wrong! I am now seeing that they have so many advantages, so I have a few questions, cuz I think I’ll give them a try! :
1. Why do YOU give your baby probiotics(preventitive, digestive, excema?)2. Which product do you use?3. Do you use your probiotics daily or as needed?4. Is there dairy/soy free available? Thanks so much in advance, even if you can’t answer all my questions. I figured this was the perfect place for “probiotics for dummies” like me!

Inactive1. Why do YOU give your baby probiotics(preventitive, digestive, excema?) We use them mainly because Bryce is on a prophylactic antibiotic (erythromycin) for his DGE.2. Which product do you use? We use one called Culturelle that Bryce’s GI doc recommended. We give him 1/4 the regular dose.3. Do you use your probiotics daily or as needed? We do give Bryce his every day. The couple of times he was on antibiotics for infections we doubled the dose.4. Is there dairy/soy free available? I’m pretty sure Puritan’s Pride has a dairy free one on their website.October 8, 2007 at 9:44 pm #43978Anonymous
Inactive1. Why do YOU give your baby probiotics(preventitive, digestive, excema?) We give Paige probiotics for her digestion and overall intestinal health. I have found them especially helpful after our failed food trials(she’s still a solids-free Neocate-only baby) and during/after courses of antibiotics as well as if she gets diarrhea from a viral infection.2. Which product do you use? I use a brand called BioGaia. They come in drop form which I add to a bottle AFTER warming it. Here is the website: https://www.everidishomedelivery.com/Category/BioGaiaProbioticDrops.aspxI chose this brand because I read a medical study that was performed on BioGaia drops in “colicky” infants which showed significant improvement in colic symptoms such as amount of crying.3. Do you use your probiotics daily or as needed? I give them daily.4. Is there dairy/soy free available? BioGaia is dairy and soy free, and contains: Lactobacillus reuteri protectis, sunflower oil, medium chain triglyceride oil, and silicon dioxide. Paige is extremely MFPI and cannot tolerate ANY proteins or sugars, and she has never had any side effects from the BioGaia. The only drawback about the BioGaia is that it is an oily drop, so some of it undoubtedly sticks to the side of the bottle and Paige may not get the full dose, but I find she still gets the benefits.Good Luck!October 9, 2007 at 7:10 am #43988Anonymous
InactiveWe use probiotics b/c Cooper was having such frequent stools, this has helped slow him to 3/day and when we go on antibiotics then we are already covered which is wonderful.
We use Florababy which is made by renew life and is soy/dairy free. We use ours daily in his bedtime bottle. This one has you give 1/2 the amount for 5 days and then up to the full amount on day 6 I guess to help get them adjusted to it. It has been wonderful for us.October 9, 2007 at 8:07 am #43992Anonymous

InactiveWe use them too. They have helped with Ben’s digestion, firming up his stools, etc. I also use a soy/milk free kind.. Country Life Power-Dophilus. I just open one capsule and mix into his food each day.
