Inactivehow do you do it (if your not like me) to not feel guilty about “me” time, my baby is almost one year old and i have no time for other things that doesnt involve him or cleaning around i feel bad cause i know there moms that work and have to do more than me but anyways i count my 5 min showers as if was my “me” time every day, my friend has two kids and told me that if i dont find the time for me i will lost my sanity soon
coming from her looks like a good advice but i just can’t doit how you doit? P.S. sorry about the noisy-silly question

InactiveYou know, my dh travels a lot with work and works long hours otherwise, but I will tell you from experience that a little “me” time is necessary at all costs! Don’t feel guilty. I ask dh to keep the kids upstairs and I try to watch a show by myself or take a walk. I cannot say how others get to get out and go shopping or to a bookstore or out for coffee with friends because that doesn’t happen for me.
But I can say that exercise I my one constant that I try to keep doing b/c it is for me and I feel better and it’s good for me. As for all the other stuff, I’ve kinda given up, because I chose to have a child and I understand now that it can’t be about me and it won’t be about me for a long time.October 11, 2007 at 2:15 pm #44110Anonymous
InactiveI get me time by joining groups… like MOPS or my mother’s group at church. You should look into a MOPS group. They are usually organized at churches, but you don’t have to go to that church to join. They have paid staff who watch your children for you while you get to listen to a speaker, eat breakfast, fellowship, have discussion and do crafts with other moms. It’s a great break.

InactiveI walk most evenings with a friend. I have the girls with me in the stroller, but it feels like “me” time. I also meet a friend a couple of days a week at the gym at 5:30. I don’t enjoy the early hour, but it’s worth it for the exercise and time to chat with her. I also have worked hard to let go of the guilt and try to go out with friends at least once a month. Dh is fully capable of taking care of the girls and I think it’s good for them to have time alone with him. Things may not get done my way, but they get done and that’s all that matters.

KeymasterOnce a week after i put the kids to bed (they go to bed early thank goodness) I go out and play mahjohng w/ a group of women-
it’s an ‘old lady’ game
& I am SO not the ‘game’ type of person- but it’s so nice to get out and be w/ a group of friends to chat and play- my friend started the groupso I would say to put the baby to bed & let dh stay home & just get out…even if it’s just for a few hours- that’s how long I’m out forand also we have a babysitter every sat night that we budget for & we have a date night- even if it’s jsut to dinner- we go at at 5pm & feel like old folks, but when we come home the house is quiet & the kids are asleep, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh -
