new here. brief history. son nathan born january 2006. starts spitting up often around 6-8 weeks. try different formulas, thikening the whole bit. no help. doctors label him a happy spitter (he sleeps great, good disposition etc). it calms down but satrts up all over again with the intro of solids. and on and on.
finally at 18 month appointment doc recommends prilosec (he was still on stage 3 baby food) miracle, he starts to eat table food! doing greta, super picky but i attribute that to livign off bland mush for so long. going along well. till about a month ago. just stops eating. wait a week (thoguht it could be teething /bug) call doc, she ups the dosage. miracvle again, he’s eating and eating lots more quantiity and variety than before. well we are at another impass. he’ll eat a few bites and then chew a few bits and spit it out.
so i’m ready to call the doc for a higher dosage (he is currentl on 5ml once a day no idea as to concentraion and all – will check tonite) and i decide to do a little research. find this site. ok so he is on 5ml of prilosec. it is flavored AND i am given a 1 month supply (which from reading here all sounds bad). he is 21 months approx 24-24 lbs, happy as a clam, sleeps great, not crying just not eating.
rather than keep upping the dosage (which i am not opposed too) i want to get what we are giving him right. should i not be having it flavored (grape- it is in liquid form and it is from cvs, i doubt they are compounding it there). i am refrigerating it and shaking it, but hardly vigorously. and we are storing it for 30 days.
any advice help is super appreciated. he is a great kid and i hate the thought of him suffering!
