success stories on Prevacid??

Here is a huge success story. Cooper started refluxing at 3 weeks on bm. So I switched to soy until he was 8 weeks old as he really wasn’t any better. We started Nutramigen and Zantac at that point. At 10 weeks we started Prevacid (7.5mg/day) and scheduled an upper GI which showed severe reflux. Saw our ped GI and he kept up on this schedule as we were having some improvement. After 2 weeks I asked for a dose increase and he said okay, more improvement noted, but still not the happy baby I knew I could have. After another 2 weeks I asked for another dose increase and he reluctnantly consented (we are on 15mg in the a.m and 15mg in the p.m) and we finally had our happy baby boy that I knew wanted to come out. So ther eis a light at the end of the tunnel, it may take a few weeks and some dose adjustments but it will come.

My two cents with the daycare issue is could your doc write a script for it– it is sometimes “a necessity”. My doc did this for us and I also wrote a letter out why my son needed to be on his tummy and they just put it in his file for the state if they ever did a check. Don’t know if those routes would help you, but it did us. Also the incline in no matter what position they are in might help???

Wow! Our ped wrote a script for her to sleep on her tummy. He said that reflux babies are actually at greater risk on their backs. Sorry, I know that doesn’t help.

Prevacid was the miracle cure for my little guy!! Just make sure you are giving it on an empty stomach and then following it up with a meal 30 minutes later. Also, if you don’t see big improvement in two weeks, ask for a higher dose. My son needed a few dosage increases until we saw results.
