Can anyone out there help me… mathematically challenged new mom!

According to the MARCI dosing, what would be the “right” dosage for my son?

He is almost 4 months old, weighs 13lbs.

Right now he is on Prilosec 2mg/2mL compound – getting 2.0mL 2xday

Is that correct for him?

And how about the 15mg solutabs of Prevacid… he used to take half tablet in am and half the tablet in pm… we saw no improvements so dr. switched him to Prilosec.

Again, we see no lasting improvements and from everything I’m reading I think his medication needs upping… but I’m confused with all the mg’s and ml’s!

he is on a vey very low dose

it’s 2mgs per 2ml

& you give 4mls, so that’s only 4mgs a day

he’s 13lbs

divide that by 2.2 to get kilos = 5.9, so let’s call that 6 kilos

at an ‘conservative’ dose (what was considered on the ‘high’ side 4 years ago), which is 3mgs per kilo,

that’s 6 x 3 =18mgs a day

your baby is only getting 4mgs a day

it is also VERY difficult to get a PPI compounded CORRECTLY. you MUST ask for it to be done this way: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7855&TPN=1

Thank you so much… no wonder we don’t see any relief…..

let’s just hope my GI isn’t offended by my internet research and is willing to up his dose!

isn’t exactly ‘internet research’

they’re the forerunners in researching dosing of PPIs for infants-

the University Of Missouri is where this all takes place-

you can even have Dr Philips from the U of M contact your dr- he does this quite a lot

I’m lucky that coincidentally my ped GI went to the U of Missouri!

Would you happen to know how I go about getting Dr. Phillips in contact with my Dr. Not sure how that will be taken…. but at least I’ll be prepared.
