My 5 week old was put on prevacid for reflux.. im doing one half of a 30mg solutab in the morning and the other half in the evening.. i just started it yesterday and now he has diarrea… do you think its the prevacid? if so will it go away or should i quit giving it to him?

I’m guessing that it’s loose stools, not diarrhea?

I think diarrhea is a certain amount of loose stools in an hour…

My first son could never take Prevacid, gave him severe diaherra. Now my 2 month old is on Prevacid and has had loose stools.

Prevacid doesn’t seem to bother my daughter. She’s always had good stools on the Nutramigen, so I’m thinking it’s that and not the prevacid.

It can affect different babies differently from what I’ve read, but I’d personally wait it out a bit and see what happens. If it’s really bad, I’d ask the doctor. Hailey has the opposite issue which we’re thinking may be related to her PPI.
