Hello Everyone!!

Today my 5 week old was diagnosed with acid reflux and is on .6ml of Zantac twice a day. My ped told us that we should see improvement by the end of the weekend (it’s Friday now).

Have any of you had great results with Zantac? If so, how about long did it take til you had a happy baby?

My husband and I, and our 5 year old boy, have just been going out of our minds with his screaming and crying. I’m so hoping this will help the poor thing out – and let him get some sleep (and us, too!!).

ah, the zantac question….brings back memories…

well, I would say that there MUST be babies who respond fantastically to zantac! However, I would guess that you might not find them here per se…only because the posters here, who seem to stick around, are (predominantly) mothers with babies who need ‘more’ than zantac…all this to say that: YES!! zantac could be the answer for your baby!!! I hope it is!!

I have 2 friends who had babies who have done wonderfully on Zantac, unfortunately in my opinion they had very mild cases of reflux and maybe that is why it worked for them. Didn’t help us much at all. But there are people that it does help. I would give it a week and if no improvement push for a PPI>

My son did very well on zantac, but the results were temporary. He improved within a couple of days. He slept better and stopped crying constantly. About a month later though, he started showing signs of irritability, poor sleep, gagging, grimacing and swallowing, etc. So, we have now started prevacid. I am seeing improvement again. I do, however, have a friend whose baby did great on zantac and never needed anything else. I hope that is all that you will need!

Alana improved also on Zantac but only for a little while. We ended up on a PPI and it was fantastic. I also know some bubs who did well only on Zantac. Its such an individaul thing. I would give it a week and if no luck I would see the dr again. Goodlcuk.
