I posted yesterday about my son being switched from Enfamil AR to Similac Alimentum. Since being changed, he seems to be happier, but is spitting up almost nonstop. Today he spit up on every family member that held him and everything else in between. When I feed him applesauce, I add oatmeal to it. He doesn’t spit up any of it. Every other solid he does. My question is do you think it would be okay to add oatmeal or rice cereal to the Alimentum? I’ve tried both the premixed and the powder and it is still coming up like crazy. It doesn’t seem to bother him, but my house is beginning to smell really nasty. Please, please, please help!

how old is he?

will the added cereal chunk him up ‘too much?” (ie: how’s his weight/weight gain?)

Alston’s 7 1/2 months and has lost a little weight since his six month check up. He’s 29 in. long, and 18 lbs.

You could try it as he is old enough for the oatmeal and his wt isn’t too high. He is really long we are 9 months and 28in long…. But keep in mind that it may not help with his spitting and if it doesn’t then personally I would stop it so he can get his nourishment elsewhere.

Oatmeal helped with Kaelyn’s spitting. We had to use a tablespoon per ounce before it started making a difference. I know there are others on here that have had success with less cereal. Good luck!

We did the same as Kim. We did Rice with Dylan but Oatmeal with Carter and same consistancy, one tbsp per ounce, with a lot of success.

Thank you so much…I’m going to try using the oatmeal. Rice cereal seems to hurt his tummy, but oatmeal seems to be okay. Hopefully, it will help some with the spitting up. Right now it is awful and wow does the formula stink. Thank you!
