My daughter is almost four months old. And this is my first posting! 🙂

We just got a very expensive prescripton filled for liquid Prevacid, after having trouble getting the Prev. tabs to dissolve. I’m wondering if, from what you know, it’s as effective as the tabs? I just read a posting here that suggested the eye dropper, and that seems like a good route to try.

I have read the posting that the liquid wasn’t recommended by certain doctor, but now that I have this prescrip. filled, I’d like to at least use it!

What are your experiences with it?

I got it filled at Walgreens, BTW.

I’d try it, but check out the post “about pharmacy compounded PPI’s” stickied under the medications forum. There’s a certain way to get it done, and they’re notoriously done incorrectly. I had big problems getting ours done, and it never worked for Hailey. Hope you have better luck… make sure it has no flavouring whatsoever, is kept refrigerated, and is only made in 2 week doses max. I agree with Lori, I have heard bad things about compunded prevacid… we use the solutabs and love them… timing around meals has gotten so much easier.

I guess I’d better call the pharmacy and see how they made it. I doubt I can return it. At the very least, a problem looks as if they made more than two weeks’ worth. I am assuming that it breaks down after that point?

I just called the pharmacy and thankfully, they DID make it correctly, but they did also put in 28 day’s worth. Also, the copay is going to be $50. So if it starts to be ineffective after 14 days, I guess I’m stuck with it. I still have tablets to use and will be doing the eye dropper method, I think.
