Question about the tucker sling/wedge. What is the purpose of the wedge? Why not just elevate the crib matress? Should I order the sling or the sling/wedge combo? Any advice anyone. Is it worth the money?

There are many moms on the site who have used this. We just have a wedge that we used. I think the sling helps with the wedge b/c it keeps the lo in place ours just goes under the mattress and once he started moving allot he never stayed on the wedge. Maybe someone else will chime in who has used it.

there are many who have found great success with it- I would do a search (search button is up on right hand corner of this screen) & learn from the wisdom of past posters who are no longer posting bcse their babies are fine now

I ordered the wedge with sling combo..and didnt really like it 🙁 .. not to discourage you.. but my son wouldnt really sleep on it.. and it didnt help much. BUT if I were you and wanted to give it a try.. I would order the one that straps onto the crib mattress.. I think its cheaper and they can use it as they get older. The purpose of the sling is to keep them in place.. because they roll right down the wedge if they arent “strapped” in.

I searched a bit bcse I remeber someone here taking the bouncy seat cover off & making their oen sling! I don’t sew, but if you know someone who does…

I haven’t found the post yet, but I found this along the way:

“My daughter puts a single sheet under the seat part of the Tucker Sling. She positions him on his back in the sling velcros him in–then swaddles him with the sheet. Taking the one side over his chest and tucks in under his opposite side then she does the opposite side. He seems to need his arms swaddled in the sheet or he startles himself awake. He looks like a little mummy! This seems to work well for him. She has the crib mattress on a 45 degree incline so the sling is a must to keep him in position. I hope this works for you too. I found out today that our insurance covers the Tucker Sling. We got a script from our GI and took it to the medical supply co and it was covered 100%. I wish I would have thought to check this out sooner, I could have been using it right from the beginning. I have her in it right now. I expect I will be up a lot tonight until she gets used to it. I hesitated getting one because I hated to pay that much for something I wasn’t sure she would like, but now… I hope she likes it.
