Hello ladies….I am back. I was here almost two years ago with my first daughter. You all were SOOOO incredibly helpful during that time. I would have never survived without this web site…and Marci-kids!

I now have a nearly 6wk old baby girl and she was fine up to a couple of weeks ago. Things have progressed to the full blown screaming, arching the back, gurgle in throat, acidy breathe, etc. I took her to the doc on Friday and she does have reflux….I knew that.

I am going to move things along this time and go ahead and get her into a pediatric gastro. doc and get her on Neocate. Alimentum is what we were told to supplement with…I’d been pumping her breastmilk and supplementing about 5oz a day with Enfamil Gentlease. She is the most gassiest baby I’ve ever seen. She poops every three days which just doesn’t seem normal to a mostly breastfed baby. Anyhow, I tried just the Alimentum over the weekend and see no difference yet. We were up last night with her screaming bloody murder.

It is sooo hard and sometimes I can’t believe I am going through this again. Atleast I know somewhat where to begin…thanks to the information found here. Anyone that ask me about reflux….I always send them here!

Good news is my first daughter is acid reflux and medicine free. She has no food allergies either!!!! So there is hope!

Big hugs. My first DD had it too and now my son. It seems like a curse. Was your first DD breastfed? Did she get better when you switched her to Neocate? I am battling with that decision right now. I know breast milk is best but my pedeatrican wants us to switch Gavin to Alimentum for a week before moving to Neocate most probably

Welcome back. Sorry you are going through this again. WE love gas drops in this house and use them often. Cooper has been gassy since birth.. I tried to get gas drops in the hospital (hehe) but they wouldn’t give them to us for whatever reason. I would give the formula a few more days it can take weeks to get all the stuff out of their systems so it may take some time to see a change. I hope things get better for you quickly.

congratulations on your new baby!

if you don’t want to stop breastfeeding, you can try medication (a good dose of prevacid) and changing your diet to see if that helps;

breastfed babies actually can go a few days w/o pooping & it’s normal, but you’re the mama!
