My daughter has been doing so well these past few months. I’m still on the elimination diet,btw. Then one day, while I was feeding her baby food she started gulping,like it was hard to swallow. Let me explain, she puts her chin to her chest and gulps. What in the world?

So,I took her to the drs.and fed her there so they could see,and nothing happened. The dr. said it’s not because of reflux, but because sometimes babies have a hard time breathing and swallowing,that they are still learning how to do it. I thought,HUH?? Well,it ended up going away…then it came back a few days later,and went away again,then it would come and go. Now,a month later she is doing this strange gulping every day, and before it was just when she ate, but now it happens any time of the day. She gets this little look on her face and her eyes get big,then chin to chest to gulp. I have no clue?? I sit there and wonder what I ate differently, what she ate differently??

Has this happened to anyone else??Any ideas??? It’s freaking me out.

Kaelyn did something similar when her reflux would flare up. At least that’s what it always seemed to be related to.

No,it isn’t.But,thank you so much for responding!!

Aiyana just seems like she can’t swallow,or like she’s swallowing down a whole lot of stuff.It’s like she puts her chin to her chest to give her the extra force she needs to get whatever it is down.It makes me think she has a lump in her throat or something..but that can’t be,because then she’d be swallowing like that all the time w/o stop right??

I had to stop typing this and bf she stopped 3/4 of the way through sat up looked around and then gulped chin to chest then wanted more.After the feeding she did that gulping again,a big loud one chin to chest and then little ones. I wish I knew what is setting it off??!!?!

They said by 6months the acid would be gone,she’s almost a year and it seems like instead of getting better it’s coming back!WHy does it come back?!!?

My son’s silent reflux would “bob up and down”. The liquid would keeping bounding up and down in his throat, so he’d have to keep gulping to keep it down. It did look like he was straining, but he was straining to keep it from going down the wrong tube and straining to keep it from going out his mouth. Also, it is hard to get a breath in when the reflux keeps bouncing up repediately. That’s how my son was before he was on the reflux meds. My docs told me that my son would have reflux the rest of his life. I’m sorry that your docs told you it would go away after 6 months, maybe it does for some kids? lansima2006-4-13 12:0:16
