InactiveI’m making appointment with Dr Sears, turn out his office not far away from my home.
Okay, from her ped, my daughter is allergic to cow’s milk, we tried soy and then she allergic to it too.
Her first ped diagnosed her with reflux, but then I don’t believe it since she barely cry or fuss.
She spit up since I give her formula and developed an eczema.
So I’m trying to relactacte again now.
While I’m trying which formula is the best for supplementing till I get my supply back? (anyone here successful to relactated again?)
She doesn’t like Nutramigen or Alimentum.
How about neocate?
Thank you!July 11, 2008 at 4:11 pm #53755Anonymous
InactiveI can’t help much with the neocate because right now we’re supplementing with Alimentum.
But I can try to help with the relactation part. I’ve been working on that for a little while now. I’ve been working with an amazing lactation consultant. I started out with pretty much nothing there and now am actually seeing my supply to slowly increase. It was one of the things I most regret now (stopping bfeeding). I only wish I knew then what I know now. I knew before I was even pregnant that I wanted to bfeed as long as I could, my personal decision. I had to stop when my LO was going through the worst of her reflux. Yeah, ultimately I decided to stop nursing, but because I listened to the advice of my not-so-supportive pediatrician at the time. I kick myself everyday now for stopping. Because if my baby is MSPI I could possibly bfeed and do TED. How long has it been since you stopped? And how old is your LO?What the consultant has been working with me on…-Pump, pump, pump as much as you can (I’m doing 5-10 mins every hour for 6 hours in the day and then 15 mins or so every 2-3 hours. I’m not perfect and sometimes skip an ocassional one at night)-Let your baby nurse as much as he/she will even if they’re not getting anything (comfort nursing)-Feed your baby at your bare breast-Spend as much skin-to-skin time as you can with your baby-Have you thought about using a supplemental nursing system until your supply comes back in? (I know of two brands…one by Medela and one by Lactaid). You can use this to feed your baby the formula at your breast while waiting for your full supply. Gets the baby used to nursing again.-Herbs (blessed thistle and fenugreek)-she recommended the Mother’s Milk tea, but I just can not drink tea so I’m taking the two by pills-Relax-she really explained to me that she thinks my stress level is what is not letting my milk let down. She did an exam and said I still have a lot of milk-making tissue left. It’s just the stress of dealing with my poor darling baby. She told me to relax when I’m pumping. Think of water, think of your milk over-flowing, gushing out, whatever. She said pumping is my time to relax and let go of stress. That’s everything I can think of real quick. If I can think of anything else I’ll let you know. I wish you the absolute best!

InactiveI also used Fenugreek (3 pills 3x/day) & Blessed Thistle (3 pills 3x/day) with my 1st ds… worked great. BUT I used them to increase supply, not relactate.

InactiveI would say that Neocate or Elecare are your best bets for the formula until you get your milk supply back. They are both elemental, with no milk, so they shouldn’t bother her that way. Sometimes you can get insurance to help cover the cost.
