InactiveI know this is tons of forums on here that talk about digestive enzymes and I have looked at them all, but I am confused!!!..LOL (very easy for me!)
My daughter-as some may already know, is 2 months old, weighs 11lbs. I just need to know what type of enzyme I could put her on and how much. The HOW MUCH is were I am having troubles. I don’t know how much to give her, and how often. I am just so confused. Sorry that most of you have to repeat yourself, but this would be really appreciated. So my question is:WHAT BRAND?
HOW MUCH?HOW OFTEN?(2 month old, 11lbs)Thanks,CrystalNovember 3, 2008 at 6:19 pm #58324hellbennt
Keymasterfrom here:
As a damaged or leaky gut heals, you may need fewer enzymes than in the beginning. Always check the label and manufacturer’s recommendation for any particular product you are interested in. To minimize adjustment effects, start with a partial dose in the very beginning and work up to a full dose….Enzymes work on contact with the food or substrate with the appropriate bonds. So the enzymes must be in physical contact with the food or substance in order to work. Enzymes usually come in capsules you can open or swallow, or as enterically coated tablets you cannot open. The capsules are preferable because they can either dissolve in the stomach releasing the enzymes, or you can open the capsules and mix the enzymes with any food or drink and take at the beginning of a meal. This allows the enzymes to be breaking down food in the stomach before it passes in into the small intestine.this tells which ones: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9739November 3, 2008 at 8:11 pm #58329Anonymous
InactiveHi there,
Welcome.Laura gave you a good link 🙂for a two month old, i would recommend Lacto by enzyemedica. You can purchase here.start with a 1/4 of capsule for a few days and increase by 1/4 until you are able to give 1/4 capsule at each meal. stay there for a few days to access how your child is reacting to it. if she seems well maybe increase to 1/2 a cap until you reach 1/2 cap for each meal. If you increase too soon, it can cause diahrea (sp?). Slow and steady is always good. Are you giving probitoic? if not i would give it a try. I have been given my 2 year enszyme since she was 13 months old. It has helped her vomitng issue tremendously.you can mix it with milk. It does not taste very good, so hopefully mixing with her milk can help.good luck.Leokendramom 2008-11-03 20:13:19 -
