Inactivehi guys..
so sienna isnt too bad! so far its.. ok. after shane i think anything seems ok.anyhow. no more breastfeeding.. the “why?” is too long to explain right now.so dairy was BAD… gassy and throwing up.she is on soy. gas went away.. but after like day 3.. she is constipated.. as i have heard this happens.what do i do??tried prune juice.. karo syrup (which grosses me out..and i dont agree with giving too much of). the juice sometimes give a little of the runs .. i cant seem to find a good amount to give.do you think i should give alimentum?? i just cant afford it if its not really needed.the reflux is .. ok. no “pain cries” just yet.. just observing a lot of silent refluxing and hiccuping going on. would ya’ll medicate for this? she does sleep on stomach only.. and does squirm a whole lot.thanks for the help.January 12, 2009 at 5:45 pm #60269Anonymous

InactiveI would keep her on soy for at least 2 wks before you make another change. I think Sheri has a post somewhere about helping with constipation in non solids babies… I think I remember something about brown sugar?? I can’t remember as constipation hasn’t ever been an issue for us. Maybe Laura will give you the link hehe. I might also look into trying some Zantac or Axid to see if that helps to settle her a bit with the sleep.. or maybe do the mylanta and see if it helps at all and then you will know if you need to try something else.

Keymastermy thoughts:mylanta can actually help move things along! maybe try that? give in 1ml doses, up to 5mls over a 24hr period-if stools get too loose then you back off, but some movement is what you’re looking for, so why not?probiotics? they’re ‘even’ mentioned in the colic article, here, page 2:Wondertime article/colic solved: http://wondertime.go.com/learning/article/interview-colic-expert.html
Probiotics, brands used: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=8970&PN=1

i actually picked up culterelle (sp?) .. and i thought it made her worse.. but good thing i read those articles.. and saw that it could make it worse before better.and mylanta ..good idea!i think i am gonna just switch to alimentum though.. she is really uncomfy at night.. and i would rather try a formula change then meds first. plus not to start a touchy subject.. i dont feel very comfortable giving so much soy.January 14, 2009 at 1:13 pm #60321Anonymous
InactiveHey Lauren, just a heads up. If you’re really worried about the milk/soy issue, I’m pretty sure that Culturelle contains milk.

InactiveI would try maybe the probiotic from Klaire Labs or Kirkman labs.. I used the 2nd with Cooper and he did great. Jill, Sheri and Leo I think all 3 use the 1st one and it has worked well for those babes as well. Kirkman you can only order directly from them, but they ship very quickly and to me the price is reasonable… you will only use 1/2 capsule/day so the 60 day supply will really last you 120 days.

InactiveHello!
When we first switched from milk based formula to soy based, Kaden became constiptaed, and still does from time to time. What has worked for him, is just a bit of prune nectar. Our ped sais we dont’ have to dilute it, but I choose to. He is not 100% sold on the taste, but I will even add a bit into his cereal and food, to get it in him. It takes a few days, but eventually he goes.I know that pear juice can get things moving as well……………. -
