DH just found out he has Chron's

no chrons here—we have celiac at our house—but i just read a fascinating book that i checked out from the library that was discussing our overzealousness with cleanliness which seems to be causing health problems—i can tell you it isn’t fun suffering the results of our overuse of antibiotics after suffering a bout with MRSA in february. it still hurts and still will itch and swell a little at times—of course it has to be on my face!!

back to the book i was talking about. it was discovered that chrons and ulcerative cholitis are diseases of our modern societies where we are so clean. some experimenting was done with pig whipworm eggs and people with these two diseases. of the people treated with the whipworm eggs and chrons disease, all got better, and all but one went into remission—-until they stopped the whipworm eggs. these particular worms don’t mature in the human digestive tract, so they don’t cause bad side effects. basically, it was cure by infection.

i can’t remember the name of the book, but i will see if i can find it again or remember the name of it in case you would like to read it. i found it fascinating.
