InactiveHello ladies!Im hoping someone out there with some experience on Silent Reflux can shed some light on things for me!
Where do i start… DD is 8 weeks old, she was diagnosed with Silent reflux at 3 weeks… She would scream when feeding, arch her back, generally just in pain with constant hickups and gaging!
Just to be sure a pead trialed her on soy formula with no success. She was then put on Zantac 3 times a day 1.5mls …After 2 weeks with no improvement she was switched to Losec tablets and dropped down to Zantac once a day till the Losec kicked in! Well after being on the Losec a week and a half we turned a corner and she was like a new baby.Eating the recommended amount, sleeping just generally happy! After a few days we stopped the Zantac with no instant issues. 2days later i decided to get the Losec made up into a liquid form because it was so hard to get her to take it! Well instantly that night we were back to the screaming… She has been on the liquid for 2 days now and is worse then ever!! I called the pead and he told me to up her dose to 1ml twice a day.He doesnt think it has anything to do with switching to liquid!
So im wondering is it a coincidence or is the liquid not agreeing with her… Or could it be that we have stopped the Zantac!!!Im so confused . Im considering switching back to the tablets and the Zantac cause that worked originally but my pead just advised upping the dose and sticking with the liquid.
Sorry for the rant but im not sure wot to do, My daughter is in pain and now we seem to be going backwards:-(

Keymasterdon’t use the liquid…
welcome! you’ve found a great place!
the key to all of this is RESEARCH and, of course, support!
http://www.marci-kids.com is at the FOREFRONT of research of PPI use and dosing in infants/todders. You can check there to see learn about PPIs and infants
then, hop back here to learn HOW to get that proper dose, if need be, and what FORM of PPI and HOW to administer…
Prevacid 101(last post on the page): https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1936&PN=0&TPN=1
unfortunately the majority of drs & pharmacists don’t know…babies metabolisms’ are much faster than adults, so the drugs work differently with them…
after medication, you might then want to look at diet…
I have a LOT MORE TO SAY! and most of it is here: Groupie Intro: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=853
it’s looong, but PLEASE read/skim/scroll through it & refer back to it, as it TRULY will help you!
so glad you found us!

ps: when you get a moment, please go to the upper right-hand corner of this screen and click on ‘settings’ and from there you can edit your signature and let us know how old baby is, what formula or breastfeeding, MSPI or not, what meds and what doses and form of meds and how you’re administering-thanks!

InactiveI agree w/Laura…Don’t use the liquid. JMO, go back to what you know works. Then if things still go downhill atleast you know it wasn’t the switch. Good Luck!
