InactiveHey, my baby does have reflux but this is another question I was curious about. SHe is 6 weeks old and seems to sleep all the time. She will go to bed at around 10-10:30 p.m. and sleep til 4:00 or 5:00 a.m. and then she will eat and sleep till around 7 or 8 and then eat and sleep till to 10 or 11 then eat and try to sleep more then eat and sleep more. I try to keep her awake more (even though she sleeps good at night) bacuse I want her engaged in something. However she cries when awake wanting to go to sleep. How can you know if it is too mcuh?

Inactiveeating and sleeping is exactly what babies of this age should be doing. sounds like her reflux must be under pretty good control if she is sleeping that well!!!

Inactiveshe has silent reflux. She has always slept good at night. It was the crying and screaming when awake that led us to the reflux–hiccups, coughing, gurgling, screaming. I have her on similac r.s. although she does not throw up just to see if it will help so far it is way better than the isomil (soy). That was a nightmare.

Inactivemommab – my little one has the exact same symptoms. SHe sleeps great at night it is the during the day and meal times that SUCK!I am so glad I found this site! I have a daughter who is just over two months and have been battling the reflux issue and have gotten to my wits end!She started on breast milk but my supply dried up. She started on Enfamil lipil and got real constipated so she was switched to Isomil (soy) and fusses after an ounce of formula. She is taking Zantac and still doesn’t seem to be better. Her ped is switching her to Similac RS so I am hoping this helps!Any advice would be great.September 10, 2009 at 5:29 pm #63844Anonymous
InactiveThis is mommab–We did do this similac r.s and it did much better however it did not help the reflux. We are now back on the regular similac advance and she is doing great. She still has the silent reflux but is not crying with it and she is much happier now. I have been taking her to a chiropractor also and it has helped a lot.

Inactivemommab – Did she still cry and fuss on the Similac RS? That is what is mostly frustrating. She takes in an ounce and fusses! UGH! So I am trying any and everything!

InactiveTaking an ounce and then fussing is often a sign of reflux influenced feeding issues, or beginnings of feeding problems/feeding aversion. I’d check out meds if she isn’t on them already. Getting the pain under control early enough is important to prevent the feeding issues from getting worse.
About the sleeping- sounds like a dream to me! I know that you’re worried it’s too much, but really they can’t do much at 6wks anyhow. If you’re worried though, ask your ped.September 11, 2009 at 8:57 pm #63857Anonymous
InactiveNo, she did much better on the rs because I think she could not handle the soy formula at all. She now take about 5-6 oz and does not fuss at all:-) She has silent reflux that we are still working on. I also just switched bottles. I was using the playtex drop ins but I am now trying Dr. Browns because someone told me about them. WE will see if these bottle help with gas and burping (burps all day long and has lots of gas but not fussy)

InactiveHi. I am new to this forum, but not new to reflux. Both of my girls had/have reflux. My 2.5 year old finally outgrew it at 2 and my 7 months old is full on right now. My question for you – how did the visits with the chiropractor go? If it works, what did they try?
