InactiveI was wondering if anyone uses nutramigen formula for refux and fussiness and does it work? We have silent reflux. Also what are the main signs of a milk allery or intolerance in formula. My baby is six weeks old.

InactiveWe used Nutramigen from the time my son was 8wks old until he was 13 months old. It helped with his fussiness but he still refluxed until he was 10 months old… we also were on Prevacid 30mg/day from 12 wks until 16 months old. For us our main symptoms for the intolerance were that he could not nurse and gain weight at all, didn’t do well with soy either, he had horrible mucous in his poops, was always congested and didn’t sleep well. I nursed for 3wks and then we did soy for 5wks before he was put on Nutramigen. HTH.

hi there,
I tried nutramigen but not succeed. My DD would not take it, not even a sip. It smells bad, and I wouldn’t blame her. So I can’t help you there.
However, my DD is allergic to cow’s milk and soy protein, therefore, I’m exclusively breastfeeding her. I had to adjust my diet to no-diary, no soy and no nuts. It has been working out great. From my experience, the signs of milk allergy are fussiness, sleeplessness, vomiting a lot (this can also be due to reflux), and mucus & blood streaks in poop (this was the sure sign for me). You might want to take her poop to the doctor’s office and ask them to do allergens testing.
If you decide to adjust your diet, note that it will take about 2 weeks until all the cow’s milk protein is out of your system.
Hope this help.
