InactiveMy 9 month old has recently started sleeping through the night- most nights (HURRAY!- once we stopped the oatmeal she was eating– it took a week).
The problem is daytime sleep. She refuses to nap for more than 40 minutes which leaves her incredibly cranky.
Because of the reflux issues, she has to go at least an hour without eating before she can lie down. This means that she is waking up from her naps starving.
Has anyone else figured out a way around this? 80 minutes is just not enough daytime sleep. She is miserable by mid-afternoon but too hungry to go back to sleep.

KeymasterI wish I could help you. Jonah was Sir No Nap.
It was very frustrating!try moving prevacid dose, try adding in zantac (must be given 4hrs seperate from prevacid), try mylanta cherry supreme, try moving times of nap,
try BABYWEARING

Inactivehi.. i would try 7.5 in morning..and 15 at night.. that is what we do..
works well.. its too hard 3 times a day! ..plus i remember with my son he did 30-40 min naps ALL THE TIME.. and it wasnt because he was hungry.. it was because of his reflux. I know this because with my daughter.. she started off the same way.. then we got her reflux under control and her naps improved so much!October 24, 2009 at 7:08 pm #64345Anonymous
InactiveHow would you recommend moving the doses? Without the mid-day dose, Leah is really uncomfortable. It is a pain but worth it.
Right now, she wakes between 5:30 and 6 and gets the first dose followed by a bottle 30 minutes later. The next dose is usually around 11:15, 30 minutes before lunch. The last dose is at 4:30 or so. I am not sure how I could add in Mylanta or anything else?
I just don’t understand how she is comfortable enough to sleep at night but not during the day?

Inactiveone of my kids would only take cat naps until he was a year old—-and he didn’t have reflux, he just wouldn’t sleep for longer than an hour at a time. i had been spoiled by other kids that would take 3 hour naps.

InactiveI wonder if she is sleeping well at night b/c she is exhausted from no sleep during the day? You could try to give her 15mg in the a.m and then 7.5mg at night to see if that helps and then midday you could do the mylanta or Zantac as long as it is spaced 4hrs from the prevacid doses. I agree with lauren that I think it is probably related to pain… Naps were such a bear for us until we got Cooper’s reflux under control (pain wise).
