InactiveI was so exited to get Prilosec prescribed for my 2.5 month old as this has been the longest couple of months of my life! I just want him to be a happy and comfortable baby! After reading here there is so much great information but I am so overwhelmed!
He got the omeprazole suspension. He is 13.5lbs and prescribed 3MLS twice a day. But now after reading on here and seeing how not many people had luck with this, I’m not sure what to do. I suppose I’ll just give it a try and see how it goes! It’s sad to know that it probably won’t work though. I wish we could just go straight to something that has better results.October 28, 2009 at 9:42 am #64373Anonymous
InactiveI’m in the same boat, except our prescribed dose is only 1.5ml/day. After reading here, that seems useless…
It’s sad to think I’ll have to fight this battle while exhausted and near-tears every day. I don’t know if I have the strength for all this.

Keymasteryou mamas can do it!!!
you must FIGHT for those babies!
you must research all you can!
find out from http://www.marci-kids.com what it is that you must TELL/REQUEST and then just do it! you can call them & email dr philips -he will even contact your dr for you!!! (he is a PHARM D not a MD- his knowledge is PHARMACEUTICALS, ie PROPER PPI dosing in infants)

InactiveOur Prilosec dose got increased to 1.5ml twice a day, but is still too little. I’m researching my options for when I call on Monday (the ped wanted me to try it for 4 or 5 days, then call). He said he wanted to read all the Marci-kids stuff I printed for him, plus the Buffer Babies sheet, so we’ll see!
Laura — I read your sample fax post and didn’t know that you could mix Mylanta with Zantac!! That would definitely help, especially since Caleb’s dose would now be 2ml of Zantac… He could barely handle 1.3ml! I stopped giving it to him the past two days to see if the Prilosec would kick in by itself, but he’s WORSE THAN EVER. Going to pick up the Zantac again today.

InactiveChristina-I’m so sorry you’re going through this too. I know just how you feel in having to fight this battle while exhausted and in near tears everyday. Actually, I am in tears everyday.
We’ve been on the prilosec for a couple days. When we first started it we stopped the zantac but things were pretty bad for him. Yesterday I did both meds and the day was ok but our nights are still just getting worse. He used to be hard to get down for bed but would be out for 8-9 hours straight by 8:30pm. The past few nights we can’t settle him until 11pm-12am. He just cries and grunts. He’ll calm down a little if we hold him but won’t let us put him down at all. I don’t know…it seems the meds are making it worse! I know it can take longer for them to kick in but I just don’t know what I’ll do in the meantime! And…knowing that we’ll probably just have to keep doing this trial and error stuff for quite awhile is so frustrating! I haven’t tried the mylanta yet but maybe I will do that. He comfort eats all the time and won’t go to sleep without sucking on a bottle for a little bit.I just keep running through my head “This won’t last forever, this won’t last forever….” I also have to remind myself constantly about how lucky I am to have my little guy and how much worse things could really be.We’ll get through this! It may not be easy, but it will happen!November 2, 2009 at 8:28 pm #64423hellbennt
Keymasteryes you can mix mylanta and zantac
they can NOT be given w/ the PPI
they must be spaced four hrs from the PPI -
