Ive been suspecting this for a little while, but i think my ds has a bad reaction to Carafate! whats supposed to help him & numb his throat may be hurting him. I looked online & a possible side effects are flatulence, gastric discomfort, indigestion, nausea, vomiting! doh! He was doing great today BEFORE the carafate, even went to sleep for his 1st nap without crying! I forgot to give it to him, so I gave it after & hes been fussier since. I gave the 2nd dose at 4 & tried to put him down & it was a disaster. (he’s now on my lap & i’m typing with 1 hand!) Has anyone else had this happen?

I just checked dh’s palm that has all his pharmacy information in it and it only gave 2 adverse reactions 1: Severe is bezor formation (kind of like a hair ball in the throat for humans) and 2: Common: constipation. DH walked in from being out when I was looking it up and asked me what I was doing! I said looking up adverse reactions to Carafate and he goes: “Constipation?” so both he and the palm only came up with those.. I hope that he isn’t reacting, but maybe someone else will chime in. I have never used the stuff personally.

nothing but great results w/ it for jonah…sorry…he would actually SLEEP after his dose, it calmed him down so much…

Yah, well, my theory was blown today! He was even worse today without the Carafate!! Oh, the poor little guy was in such pain and I felt so bad NOT having given it to him, then it was too close to his prevacid dose to do anything else. i’m so hoping our pedi agrees to put him on Zegerid–a good dose–tomorrow, or else we’ll be going the OTC/buffer babies route. These solutabs are just not cutting it for my sweet little guy.
