i think that what it means is that if he is still refluxing, that it is not causing any damage—but, reflux can still leave an uncomfortable feeling and the only way a very young child can tell you that something doesn’t feel “right” is by fussing or crying. i have reflux and it will leave an uncomfortable sensation sometimes, but it isn’t pain. sometimes it feels like there is something caught in my throat.
i also get a ring in my esophagus and my food gets stuck sometimes when i swallow it. i just recently had to have a scope and have the ring fractured for the second time in 3 years. when the food gets stuck, it is painful, but it usually only lasts several seconds—-although once it lasted about 45 minutes.
however, a ring would have been seen in a scope, so i doubt that is your child’s problem. did they do biopsies into the duodenum, or only the esophagus?
